COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Golden color, good creamy, lacy head. Mild flowery hoppy nose. Medium-bodied, balanced aromatic hoppy flavor. Honeyish, floral hoppy atfertaste.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2006 (1/18/06) Crystal clear golden body with rocky off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some lemon. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, light lemon, caramel/cookie. Bitter, but not as much as I remember, though I last had it in the days before IIPAs. Medium body, quite drinkable. Excellent IPA, no letdown despite being a re-rate of one of my first 600 beers. (7/26/02) I know I’m a sucker for brews with big Cascade flavor, but so what! The aroma is strong grapefruit, letting you know what’s on its way. Flavorwise, this baby’s well-balanced, with a healthy malt backbone in support. A fine beer for those who like what it has to offer. (9/4/8/4/16)

Bottle, 12oz. Pours a quite clear, nice golden body with a dense, off-white head. Balanced nose, surprising me a bit, as I expected it to be more on the hoppy side. There’s sure piney hops in it, but there’s also malts enough to balance it. The flavor is a lovely blend of piney and citrusy hops giving it a nice bitterness, and a malty sweetness, leading to a long, very bitter finish with pine and citrus, as well as a malty sweetness to balance it slightly. Yet another nice one from Avery. (080215)

on tap-pours an off white head. Color is clear gold. Aroma is hoppy. Taste follows, nice, good carbonation. This is not one of Avery’s BIG BEERS, which seem to be too much/complex for my tastes. This one is straight forward & very well done.

Bottle 12oz. In me Ølfabrikken beerglass right now !! Amber - white head. Lovely flowery hopped aroma. Taste: resin, pine, flowery, grape, very hoppy, some nice malty sweetness. Dry bitter finish, not too much. I love IPA’s !!!

Bottle, bought @ Tønden, Haslev.
Pours deep, hazy orange with a fine, creamy white head. Great duration. Aroma is hoppy, quite citric with notes of oranges and apples. A little bit of pine as well. Fine, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasantly smooth, powerfully hoppy, but not too dry. Some caramel in the background and a good bitter aftertaste. Nice IPA.

Golden beer with a medium white head. Intense and complex aroma, with hops, lemon, peach, flowers (jasmine?), and pine. There is a hint of flowery sweetness in the flavour, but it is quickly dominated by bitterness, as it should be. Long lasting hops aftertaste. I drank it from my third favourite glass - I wonder what magic it could have done in my favourite glass as it demands...
