COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Very enjoyable IPA with the quintessential look and feel of what I like in a hoppy brew. A hint of English malts and sweet and fruity NW hops. Perfect tawny body and bustling off-white head. Yum!

Bottle - Mondial de la Bière, Montréal. Limpid golden body with average carbonation and a fair white foamy head. Enjoyable malty/hoppy aroma with floral and fruity hints. Taste is well balanced and carries piney and herbal notes. Ends with a long bitter finish. Good IPA.

Bottle: Clear copper color with a white head. Aroma, citrus hops and pale malts, solid aroma. Flavor, sweet up front with some grassy and citrusy hops. I’ve had better, but a solid IPA.

[on tap] Potent pine and grapefruit nose with nothing else detectable. Almost clear copper with a lasting, dense, white cover. Salty pine hops flavour with some resinous bitterness. Some sweet caramel as well. Well balanced sweet and bitterness and with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderate bitter pine finish.

Bottle. Fairly light golden orange pour with very minimal head. Nose was strongly reminiscent of Hopslam’s fruit aromas to me, albeit a watered down version of course. Grapefruit and mango but definite pine/resin, too. Oddly, I passed it to my wife for a sip and when she passed it back to me I got a floral explosion on the nose that I hadn’t detected before. Fruit almost disappears on the palate with the pine really dominating until the fruit reappears on the back of the palate/sides of the tongue at the end of each taste. Slight metallic/soapy edge there, as well, though, and a little watery. Nice and bitter if that’s your bag. I’d drink again but definitely reach for a Dogfish 60 or a Two Hearted first.

Fairly tight aroma, just a little bit of citrus. Well done basic piney cereal flavor. Solid IPA.

Golden amber color with a white head. Citruis hoppy nose. Not a lot of malts but has a bitter piney finish. Ok mouthfeel.

Nice fragrant hops from an amber pour with little head. Good malty, caramel backing matched very well with hops flavor and light lingering bitterness. An above average IPA for sure
