COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

This IPA has a nice, warm golden color and a good head. The aroma is nicely hopped with notes of fruit and a bit of caramel. I find the same notes in the flavour, that has a nice bitterness. A nice one!

Bottle. orange blonde color. Red berries, grapefruit and flowery hops in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with raspberry cake dough, earthy hops, grapefruit and mandarin. Earthy and oily bitter aftertaste. Pretty nice, but too sweet for an IPA.

Amber hue. Medium-sized white, creamy head. Excellent thick lacing. Notes of spruce, pine, and everything else evergreen in the nose. Undernotes of apricot and other fuzzy fruits. Also black pepper. The flavor is very bitter and moderately citrusy with a hint of grapefruit rind. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Crisp, clean and bitter finish.

Nice floral/citrus aroma. Apricot color with a thin white head. Starts with genuine grapefruit, goes a bit thin for an instant, then grapefruit bitterness persists. This is really good stuff - I’d recommend comparison to Hale’s Mongoose.

hopdog (6942) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2004
Light orange/amber color with an average sized white head. Subtle floral and citris smells. Piney and overly powering bitter taste (not a good bitter, more of a sour bitter). After finishing this beer, the glass was covered with lacing. Struck me as a run of the mill IPA (there are a lot better ones out there).
