COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Fratto (1814) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 22, 2009
Bottle from the Arlington World Market. Poured a hazy orange with a flowing off white head that just wouldn’t stop.

As the head settled it started looking like awkward meringue sand castles. You know the castles you could make by drizzling wet sand out of your fist into a semi-Dungeons and Dragons castle kind of spire? Several of those about a quarter of an inch to an inch tall just chilling out in my beer... what the fuck?

Aroma of fruit and some hops. Good citrus flavor with not so much hop flavor, but plenty of good fry hop feel. Aftertaste is faint citrus. Dry.

Nice hoppy pale aroma, kept a great head even though it was out of the bottle, a little bit of a orange-peel type of flavor, very crisp & clean

Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JUL 13, 2004
Bottle. Mmmmmmmm....hops. Nose is hoppy and floral. Taste is of course hops, with some lemon and a little spice. Finish is bitter and very clean. For an IPA the hops are very subdued and mild. Goes down great. A very refreshing easy going IPA. I will be having this again.

Gotta keep telling myself that I’m a Stoutie. But lately I’ve been enjoying so many excellent IPAs. My Secret Santa sent me two I’m anxious to try. Had this last year but before joining RateBeer. So, I had it again last night and loved it. Nice amber color with frothy white head. Aroma was the appealing grapefruity I associate with the style. Lightly carbonated and a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor was so very refreshing and clean and crisp and grapefruity. Great stuff.

Bitter flavors, grapefruit, burnt, tinny kinda thing. Some honey/toffee too. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, Bitter citrus finish. Good brew. signature PNW, even if it is in the Rockies.

Bottle. Clean light crisp IPA. Nothing outstanding but good none the less. The more I try the IPAs the more I like the style!

Bottle. Light amber color. Moderate white head. Big citric hop nose. Body is medium. Malts are overpowered by hops. Finish is lingering hops.

Pours light golden w/ full creamy, clumpy froth. Aroma is fresh lemon and grapefruit rind. Medium nectar w/ smooth and creamy residual effers. Flavors are dry and crisp w/ an aged citrus overtone and a bitter, asprin finish. Slight corriander spice.
