COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Bottle. Coppery hue with average white head. Aroma of grapefruit. Medium body. Flavor of lemon, grapefruit with long crisp finish. Refreshing good brew.

Tap @ dba. Deep orange hazy beer with a tight persistant white head. Great fresh hoppy aroma, nose of sweet citrus, pine resin, grapefruit and a bit of orange over some sweet light caramel malt. A touch of biscuity/bready sweetness. Great flavour as well with sweet fruity hops, peach, orange, and pine over a sot bready body. Moderate bitterness. Nice pint.

Pours a clear, bright copper orange with a thin white head with light whispy lacing. Has a bold, fresh, grapefruity hop aroma with a touch of dry biscuity malt. Starts relatively thick, full and bittersweet with lots of hop presence and decent malty balance. Finishes crisp and lightly sweet with hints of citrus and hop resin. A very enjoyable and drinkable IPA.

Gplden beer with slight citrus floral hops. Lots of grapefuit but it is not well balanced with the malt, so the hops come out too assertive.

Colour: yellow with gold-copper shine throughout, hints of Chablislike green; thick white, luxurious head but disappearing rather fast. Nose: full-hoppy aroma, not metallic or overpowering, slight wet cardboard taint, also DMS (?) Taste: Amazingly nice hoppy taste, much more flavour than real bitter taste; hops seem more UK than USA character. Aftertaste: retronasal aromas of cypress, crisp finish. each gulp gives renewed helping of fresh hops, always with this cypresslike flavouring. Hops keep lingering at the tonguesides. This beer is in many aspects an epitomizing of American IPA, were it not for the character of the hops. Very drinkable for all its hoppiness.

UPDATED: DEC 11, 2008 Nice hop aroma consisting of lemons, cantaloupe and banana. Very nicely carbonated. Has a good malt profile, with a perfect hoppy finish. Unlike most IPAs which go overboard, this one is well balanced.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2010 Loyal grapefruit hops remain with their pine counterparts...Potent honeyed malt flavors envelop most of the potent hop signature...The moss growing in a hop madman’s rock garden...This is a little sweeter than I like my session IPAs, but it is very good nonetheless...
