COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2012 Clear golden-orange, decent off-white head; plenty of lacing. Aroma of citrus, floral and piney hops, and pale malt. Taste is bitter and a little sweet and fruity. Medium body, a little dry and a bitter finish.

a little thinner than i like my IPAs. some herbal flavors, perfume/earthy/grainy stuff combined with some orange and lemon zest on a nice malt backbone.

Frothy, creamy, white head. Copper see through color. Hoppy aroma--can smell cascade over everything else--grapefruit. Decent maltiness calances okay with the strong bitterness. Solid IPA. Aftertaste lingers with slight bit of alcohol flavor.

Definitely not my favorite IPA, and the worst beer I’ve had from Avery. The pour is amber with a good head. The aroma is kinda funky with the hops coming in, but also a smell of old shoes. The mouthfeel is way too thin for my liking. The taste is thin too--watered down and just not enough substance.

orangish golden with nice white head. a very nicely balanced IPA, with a strong malt component mostly of pale malt and a hop flavor with a solid amount of hop flavor and only mild bitterness. the flavor isn’t overwelming, neither is the alcohol, but it is a well balanced and very good version of the style

12 oz bottle at beerbistro. Pours a cloudy orange gold with moderate white head, good lacing. Aroma is grapefruit and light pine. Flavour is fairly mild for the style with light grapefruit and pine notes and some caramel malt. Moderately bitter finish; fine carbonation and somewhat light bodied. Not the pinnacle of the style but nicely sessionable.

12oz bottle. ~57°. NB worthy glass. My browser shut down and erased the first half (the only half done) of my review. Anyway, orange with a 1/4", short lasting head. Nose of citrus peels with some sweetness. The flavor is resiny and, to a lesser extent, citrusy hops. Not super bitter, but nicely done. I am kinda drunk right now, so this will not make it into the "Latest Killer Quote." Anyway the beer is good. Hoppy, dry finish. Pretty good mouthfeel, maybe from the carbonation.
