COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Golden colour, white diminishing head. Hoppy, fruity, grassy nose. Fullbodied, dry, fruity mandarine flavour. Somewhat citric and flowery. A well balanced beer.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2006 A golden pour with nice lacing, a spicy aroma, hints of pine and malt. Upon tasting, a toasty, crystal malty hit, bits of grapefruit, exquisite velvety mouthfeel rounding to a properly bitter lingering finish with a slight grassy undertone. Another winner from Avery.

Very drinkable. Some citrus/grass tones, some of that cloying jaw-jarring puckering stuff at the back of the mouth, but that’s good. I’m not one to judge much on the head on a bottled beer unless the head is unusually large and fluffy or totally flat. This is neither. It is as it should be, as tall as a fingernail if you will. Malt presence is little, but quaffability is large. At 88, I am surprised it has a rating that low. One of my favorites.

this is a hopheads ipa. grapefruit citrus and nice malt balance. good slidey bun type body and nice full carbonation.woodsy pine needles and a touch of floral hidden in the malt. alcohol is perfect - as is the bitterness which lingers until you sip again. we americans don’t want everything, we want it all. why wonder about a mystery when the story reveals itself in an instant. thanx avery!

Orange color. Well dominated by hops, with a citrusy, almost grapefruity aroma. The taste is just the same. Very bitter IPA, more bitter than the others. Definitely an American-style IPA. Nevertheless, it’s a good, very well-rounded beer.

This is one of the best IPA’s I have ever had. It has notes of bitterness and sweetness but yet it caries a crisp and refreshing flavor though the finish!

12oz bottle. light haze, bright golden color, fluffy white head. Sweet aroma of ripened grapefruit. Is this a breakfast beer? flavor of rich grapefruit. Tastes like a fruit wedge! This beer is awesome. Decent malt foundation, lots of American hops. very hoppy, very balanced. How do you do that? This is delicious.

Not quite clear, golden brew with average size foamy white head, thick lacing. Aroma is fresh grapefruit, citrus, hoppy. Heavy, thick bitter flavor of grapefruit and oranges, you can taste the hops. Foams up a bit in your mouth, very bitter aftertaste. Ahh, nice gentle burn. Finishes dry.
