4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 HomebrewEx (2) - USA - JAN 17, 2007 does not count
One of the best--if not the best--IPAs I’ve ever had. Pours copper with a very thick head. Nice citrusy hop aroma, yet not overpowering.

Had it in a pint glass. The appearance is a light amber/orange. Poured w/a nice head. Not a lot, just perfect amount of head. The aroma is floral, bitter smell. Moderatly hoppy. Now for the taste. Bitter, floral, hints of citrus. Just like it smelled. Great bitter aftertaste. The bitterness lingers even after you drink it. Long after.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2009 tap @ papago. a crystal clear copper beer topped with a fluffy whitish head which leaves nice light lace work. grapefruit and orange aromas dominate over caramel, toasted grain, and light pine. flavor is nicely hopped w/o overkilling my palate... wood, citrus rind and a savory element which keeps it from being too sweet. grassy dry finish. nice texture and smooth mouth feel. 7/3/7/4/16/3.7
on tap this is the beez neez. perfectly balanced for sessioning yet crisp and refreshing enough to satisfy with just one. gotta respect a beer that can do that! 8/3/8/4/17/4
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Changed (234) - Ithaca, New York, USA - MAY 3, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours cooper, off white/white head with nice lacing that lasts. Aroma: hops and floral. Flavor: lots of hops, grass. Not as hoppy as I expected- sort of a subdued beer compared to the other Avery offerings. Still a good IPA, but doesn’t differentiate itself.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 poisoneddwarf (881) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - JUN 23, 2011
12 oz can into tulip. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a medium white head that dissipates in a couple of minutes; leaves some soapy-looking lace. Aroma is both piney and biscuity; I also get grapefruit and strawberries. Taste is bittersweet, but it’s the sweetness here that makes this beer stand out from the previous two IPAs I drank right before this. It’s not a cloying caramel malt sweetness, but something much more interesting. It’s a bit reminiscent of Belgian candi sugar. Carbonation is medium-high, body is full. A really nice IPA.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Pours an opaque light golden color with mild orange highlights. Features a 3-4 finger creamy white head. Excellent head retention and lacing.
Smell: Sweet floral and citrus hops with a light hint of malt in the background. Smells a bit sweet.
Taste: Grapefruit and pine up front with toasted malt in the middle and more bitter grapefruit at the finish. Very bitter finish - not a negative. The taste is not reflected in the aroma. I detect almost no sweetness in the taste whatsoever.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a high amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: High drinkability. You could knock back a few without much difficulty.
Overall: Solid IPA. Not the best in class but worth trying.
