COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

On top at the Pearl Street Pub. Pours a darker orange. Smells mainly piney and hoppy. Tastes of columbus hops mostly, very piney. A solid IPA.

Draft at Paradiso Dupont, courtesy of Greg - thank you sir! Pale yellow color, thick white head. Aroma of wet grass and light citrus. Taste is bright citrus with very nice balance and a smoothly bitter finish. Good stuff.

Pours a hazy gold from a 12oz bottle. Smell is good, though indistinct. Tastes bitter yet well-balanced, notes of pine and lemon. A solid IPA, one I’ll go back for at some point. Right up there with California IPAs, but lacks the complexity to put it over the top.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a int glass. The color is light orange and pretty darn clear with about a finger of white foamy head and some slight lacing. The smell has strong orange zest flavor. A bit of a pint of sugar in the nose, behind that is a slight lime flavor with some bitter hops. The taste is a mix of some nice bitterness from the hops and some sweet citrus flavors, mainly orange but a little grapefruit and a little lemon or lime is present. The feel of this beer is pretty light. It goes down well and just seems pretty smooth. Is tab bit carbonated so it does have a slight fizz to it. Overall a really great IPA.

Pours a clear amber hue with lots of active bubbles. Grapefruit and pine. Sweet and sharp hop bite. Caramelly. Finishes with residual sticky sweetness. This is really delicious. May drink a lot of these instead of my usual Stone IPA for a while.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2011 Smell is of tons of hops. Piny, resinous hops at first then citrus and grapefruit aromas come in.Malt is in the background with some sweet honey notes. Pours 3 finger white head, body is a translucent gold color. Head retention is pretty good and lacing is amazing Taste is obviously of hops. Floral hops followed by some bitter pine hops. Malt is not very much in the mix. Palate is light and well carbonated. Head leaves a nice froth through out the beer. Overall this beer is good. Semi sessionable , not too bitter. Not the best Ipa I’ve had but still pretty good.

Can. Pours a faded orange and light gold color with thick foamy white head. Lots of ripe orange, tangerine and mango notes in the aroma as well as some caramel and pine at the end. The taste starts out heavy on the grapefruit and bitter hops resin flavors along with some toasted malt and caramel rounding it out. The body is adequately carbonated with a bitter, citrus finish. Definitely one of the more full-flavored and well-balanced West Coast style IPAs.

Very floral and refreshing in the nose. Some malty sweetness as well. Orangish and chalky with a very thin head. Taste is traditional IPA loaded with hops but good balance. Finish is clean and strong. Quite good.
