COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Pours a clean medium gold/amber with a tall long lasting off white, yellowish head that leaves great lacing. Though I have had this stuff enough to know the head is pretty well hit or miss. Aroma is alot of bitter grapefruit and citrus hops, pineapple, honey drenched melon slices, and a really large amount of sweet fruity floral notes toward the end. Malt notes aren’t bad either but not as fantastic as the hops, a decent amount of caramel, toasted english muffins with butter and cane sugar, just a hint of biscuit. Flavor is sweet red grapefruit up front, with a splash of lime and orange zest, followed by enough caramel to make me happy, sourdough toast with marmalade and pickled ginge. Big orange blossom floral sweetness meets bitter hops and a bit of spice to the finish.

Bought a six-pack directly from the tasting room of the brewery in Boulder. There were a couple of the workers who had finished for the day(it was 2pm), were playing beer pong in the front of the store, were rather buzzed and in a very hospitable mood. They gave me a nice description of some of the available beers and let me sample some of the specials on tap. A nice afternoon indeed. Needless to say I like this beer very much as I do love my hops. I usually like a darker beer but the color here is very nice and golden. As others have said, very grassy and citrusy that is amped by the hops and finishes with a little malt. Tasty, especially when as fresh as this sixer was.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2008 A really excellent IPA. Pours a straw gold color with a finger of white head. Head disappears pretty quickly, but the floral aroma is great. Flavor is strong citrusy well balanced with a rich maltiness. It’s not as aggressively hopped as some IPAs that I love, but the flavor of the hops comes through really well. Nice crisp and clear hoppy aftertaste, too. It shoots. It scores. I dig it.

Pours a clear light orange with decent off white head. Aroma is floral and piney hops, a little yeast. Flavor is malt up front on a bed of floral and citrus hops, slight fruitiness. Very pleasant bitterness in the finish. Solid IPA.

Bottle courtesy of sloth. Pours a clear light orange with a thick, foamy white head. Aroma of floral, citrus, and bitter hops. Flavor of nice floral hops with a slight hint of bitter pine in the finish. Nice hops/malt balance. Excellent IPA.

The beer pours a saddle leather amber color. The nose is a rich mix of flowery sharp hops. The taste is very drinkable with a mix of sharp hops and light malts. The finish is clean and light.

What an exquisite floral, citrus aroma. I had this from the bottle in Australia, and if it has this much hop aroma after the travel then I would love to try this beer oon tap in Colorado. Lovely clean, malt that supports the hops very well. Great beer!

Crushed with Jakebra. Yes, hops and citrus. Citrus on the flavor, and awesomeness. Much awesome hops. Excellent IPA.
