COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

The Avery IPA pours a yellow-orange with a lively, thick and sticky white head that laces the glass on the way down. A thin head lasted for the entire glass.

Its aroma is of strong hops with citrus / grapefruit notes. Very appealing.

The taste is huge on the hops! The hops balance nicely with the citrus tones. Not too long ago, I probably would have thought the hop bitterness was over the top, but now it is very nice.

It is medium bodied and very drinkable. Overall, an excellent IPA. It reminds me of Stone's Pale Ale, but I like this better.

Sweet hops with an average bitterness. Everything ties in well together for an above average IPA. Not quite in the elite class of IPAs, but still can’t complain.

Pours a prismatic hue of orangish golden with a thin foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, piney mango skins, and spruce. First taste is slightly metallic, probably because it’s been a while since I’ve had a beer this hoppy. While this beer initially tastes like a hopbomb, it eventually mellows into a nice mix of citric hoppiness, alefruits, with a tangy, slightly dry finish. Mouthfeel is full bodied and resinous with lively carbonation. Definitely a beer that can satisfy my hop cravings.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2009 Rating # 1000 of Avery IPA ya bitches! Cellar-cool bottle opens with promisong aromas of hops. Pours a sunny golden color with fine and fast-dropping head. Smells good, initial taste has a fruitiness that reminds me a little of Froot Loops. It’s overall very good though, it’s subtle and a little pale fruit-citrusy instead of hammering you with dry dry hops. Cooling the bottle a bit yields more balance. Great palate and interesting notes. Slightly above-par Great American IPA!! ** slight add comment ** next bottle at beerbistro was stellar - loving the big citrus Centellial hop aromas and tastes

Thanks to my parents who brought it all the way from Clearwater Fl. Wow! Beautiful golden color with a long white head. Aroma of citrus, and the taste of beautiful hops dancing in your mouth.

Thick foamy white head, sweet hop and flower aroma, body is lacking a little but has a nice hoppy (not too much) finish and a good mouthfeel

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2007 Rerate: In a head to head IPA tasting this beer finished 4th overall out of 10. A very solid IPA with some interesting passion fruit combined with floral hop flavor.

Nice aroma...pine and citrus greet the nose. White head which settles into a thin layer above a somewhat clear copper orange colored beer. This is pretty mild for an IPA. Grapefruit & citrus flavors. Very easy drinking. May even appeal to some drinkers who don’t care for the hoppy bitter beers. Not bad. Original rating: 4.0
