COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Pours a deep gold color with copper-orange highlights. Pour creates a 1/2" fluffy white head which quickly dissapates to thin swirls of filmy foam. Hops come to the forefront in the aroma with notes of citrus rind, pine needles and spice against a faint sweet background of caramel malts, honey and cookie dough. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with a fine carbonation, but seemed to finish somewhat thin and a tad watery. Crisp and refreshing hoppy flavor profile of fresh orange, grapefruit, pine and herbal tea come to the forefront followed by a backing of sweet crystal malts, light caramel, clover honey and floral notes. A moderate hop resin bitterness coates the tongue for the finish. Although perhaps not a memorable American IPA, still well done a worth a try.

Draught pint at The Moan and Dove, August 2006. Medium hazy amber with a moderate lasting white head and some purty lacing....stinky, pungent hoppy aroma, bathroom odors (the good ones if you understand), wet spruce and leather/suede, really interesting....sweet, nicely full body, juicy with a bit of that raw pungency but also some nice sharp fruitiness and a strong acerbic grassiness towards the finish....low to moderate carbonation, very solid and better than I’d expected.

Subtle malt and hop aroma. Nice full bitterness that sneaks up on you. Finishes to the dry side.

Amber body with light hop aroma. Fruity maltiness with a light lingering bitterness at the finish.

This brew is a lightly cloudy pale orange color with a thin off-white head. Sticky patches of lacing. Good amount of grapefruit and hops in the nose. Medium-bodied with a tart mandarin orange and hops flavor, along with a decent malt backbone. The finish is hoppy and lingering. Pretty impressive when it’s all said and done.

Orange amber in color, it pours slightly hazy with a very nice head that displays excellent retention. No noticable carbonation trails in the beer give it a very rich appearance. As the head fades, it leaves a layer of foam typically found in malty brews. The aroma is very hoppy, with distinct citrus characteristics mixed with a hint of rose florals and a touch of sweetness that almost conjures up the image of bright pink bubble gum. On the tongue, the malt character of this beer is strong, with noticable sweetness evident through the balanced hoppiness. The finish is noticably bitter and very enjoyable.
