Commercial Description:
In the 1700's one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

Aroma is pineapple, light grain, and some caramel. Cloudy amber pour with nice carbonation, thick yellow head, good lace. Solid grapefruit flavor, dry, and bitter. Weak grapefruit peel finish. Surprisingly good, but kind of unnaturally so.

I wasn’t overly impressed by this IPA like I thought i was going to be. The beer was very bitter and the hops did not have a flowery taste they were more acidic and it wasn’t that enjoyable.

This is my favorite IPA. On tap: light copper color with piney hop aroma. Heavy carbonation but the balance and taste of hops is the best. The hop flavor is smooth but at the same time sharp while it lingers with goodness. The flavor consits of pine and citrus notes. For some reason I prefer IPAs to be light in color like this one. Nice looking beer and because the carbonation is very noticeable before drinking, based on appearance you can tell it is quality.

Keg at house party. I remember sipping into my cup and asking the host, "This is really good, what is this?" Turns out I was lucky enough to be at a house party where the offered brew was Avery IPA. Very solid IPA. Like most, there were the typical floral and citrus undertones, but what really stood out to me was the dryness of the beer. There was also a like centrality to the beer: perfect amount of bitterness and hop, nothing too pungent. Quality brew that was easy to drink.

Clear golden color. Bright hoppy aroma with pine needles reminiscent of a gin and tonic. Nice, easy drinking citrus and bitters flavor. Very balanced. A great one to share with friends.
