COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 1700’s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content perserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado’s hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA demands to be poured into your favorite glass to truly appreciate the citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish. Brewed by hopheads for hopheads!

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Smells of citrus, fresh hops, some floral smells and a bit of malt; great citrus smell to it! The taste unfortunately does not have as much citrus to it, as it seems a bit more watered down. Not too strong flavored, with a bit of an alcohol bite on the back end. Not too bad, but from the aroma, I was hoping for better.

Golden light brown pour from bottle into shaker, small white head. Sweet hoppy aroma, mostly citrus, a little floral. Great medium body. Lots of citrus hop flavor (again, mostly citrus and a kittle floral) with malt coming through on the swallow. Bitter hoppy finish. Great all around IPA.

Pours a clear gold with a white fluffy head. Aroma of distant tropical fruits. Not so hoppy, but bitter linger. Not the best offering, but like the can,

Bottle. The pour was a murky medium orange with some yellow highlights and a small (1 finger or less) white creamy head that was somewhat lasting, finally receding to a large puddle with a small collar which produced some excellent sheeting of lace that coated the glass. The aroma was of floral and spruce hops, a grain malt and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (grapefruit). The taste was nicely bitter and lightly malty with a mild sweet caramel undertone from the start, progressing into a nice bitter hoppy taste with just a hint of citrus at the end. The flavor was around for an average time proceeding the swallow with a mild bitter hoppiness left to linger. Mouthfeel was a few steps below medium in body with a dry texture and a mild to medium carbonation. Overall an IPA with a light maltiness and a bit of citrus, which complimented the hoppiness very well...

Can. Clear, golden colour, creamy and lacy head. Aroma has fresh grapefruity and sweetly floral hops and surpirisgly rich caramel maltiness. Some herbal notes. Sweetish caramelly and intensly bitter flavor. Lingering bitter, slightly resiny finish. Caramel makes texture rather oily and I´d appreciate slightly frothier touch. Great IPA, anyway.

The aroma on this one smells dirty, actually, like something is wrong with the beer. Has a deep golden color with a moderate head. Very hoppy, though the aftertaste is slightly skunky.
