3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at the Petrol Station in Houston. Avery has a lot of experience casking this beer, and I think itís probably the most common cask in Texas - the Austin Flying Saucer seems to have it at least once a month. The color is somewhere between straw yellow and light amber, with an eggshell head. Surprisingly clear for a cask - itís bright. The nose has pineapple, a little grassy tone, and a bit of citrus rind. The flavor as a whole is fairly dry for an IPA, with a fairly distinct bitterness - it honestly sticks out a little. Not much sweetness to be found in this one. Iím really not sure whether to call it a hop-centric beer or an unbalanced beer. Overall, itís not bad, and itís certainly good for quenching one of those hop cravings we beer lovers seem to get from time to time.

Poured from 3 bottles of a pick 6, nice cloudy orange amber. I know Iíve had this several times before and was surprised I hadnít rated it previously. Itís spicy, citrus, bitter at the end, the 6.5% is respectable, overall very solid, maybe thatí why itís been around so many years.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slightly hazy deep golden color with white head. Aroma has a very distinct hop profile with grassy/herbal/heather notes. Taste starts with sweet citrus fruits, gets slightly astringent with herbal notes and finishes with resiny hop bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. It has a really interesting hop profile, quite different from the IPAs I had recently.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Vinnyís Grill. Hazy golden/orange body, thin airy head. Fairly mild for an IPA. Enough of a sharp bite to put it squarely in the zone for the style. Light citrus notes, slippery, malts sneak in in the background. very well rounded.

Andy at Gloucester City Liquors recommended it, and this brew delivered. Nice golden orange hue with a thick white head. Good hop punch and refreshing finish. Solid IPA. Cheers!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can poured into pilsner glass. Gusher upon opening. Pours a cloudy golden orange with an off-white head and minimal lacing. Smells of sweet tomato soup. Odd taste of sweet tomato soup and fruit, but not awful. Nice aftertaste of fruit and berries with a good bitterness. Pros and cons on this one.

Drinking an IPA is exactly the way I wanted welcome Avery to the state of Nebraska. That sounds pretentious... The welcome was undoubtedly better for me than Avery. This IPA goes into the glass orange, generally clear, and heady. Floral, earthy, citrusy, and crackery aromatics. Flavor has zest from grapefruit, lemon, and orange with some sweet melon and pine. Itís a bit dank, but the balance is superb. Doesnít take much time to crush this one.
