robertjm (241), El Cerrito, California, USA Mar 2, 2008 Pours small hea which quickly dissipates. No aroma per se. Says its a Belgian? Honestly, it reminds me more of an English ale than a Belgian. Light body. Perhaps there’s a little risidual sourness in the yeast strain which could possibly make it akin to a Belgian? Still, a bit dissipointed of all the beers I’ve had from Avery.
DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 4, 2008 Going to see if I can finally enter a rating correctly the first time. 12 oz bottle. Pours a nice dark tripel color with a thin bit of brown foam. Smells malty with some nice saison type esters indeed. Taste: well, it is pretty interesting and complex - farmhouse quality is there, but it cannot be described by something so base as spice or fruit. Just a unique combination of slightly sweet malts and Belgian type fermentation. In that way it is harder to rate because it does not quite taste like anything else. Despite that it is enjoyable and worth the try. BMan1113VR (1161), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Dec 3, 2008 Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head and a clear, light brown body. Good lacing and retention. Aroma of apples, raisins, cinnamon and yeast. Pretty sweet with a little alcohol. Taste is watery and very yeasty and lightly spiced with some astringency in the finish. Fizzy and watery. thornecb (1228), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Dec 3, 2008 Pours orange marmalade into a tulip. Bright white micro head leaves spot lacing as it recedes to skim surface. Candi aromas. Sweet malt from front to back with candi and alcohol. Middle-of-the-road Belgian. stchloe (253), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 3, 2008 A good pale ale, not too estery and the sweet malt is actually fruity as well. Not a super complex pale, but quaffable onecrazybreeze (21), , Colorado, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle. Poured clear golden with quick white head. Smelled sweet and fruity. Tasted light and crisp, with boozy notes. Refreshing, crisp beer appropriate for the heat of summer but not really in tune with the other seasons.
