COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe in Karma. We suspect most of you do, too. It truly is a global concept. Very simply put, "you get what you give." Inspired by this principle and the wonderful farmhouse and pale ales of Belgium, we've created Karma Ale, a decidedly fruity and estery ale, intricate in body and nose, all driven by a unique Belgian yeast strain. Remember, good things DO happen to good people. Here's to being good!

Kind of a buttery caramel aroma, with a grassy herbal hop, and light fruit notes such as orange and persimmon. Aroma really reminds of Fat Tire, very much. Reddish orange color, a little like tea, smallish head, and not very lively looking. Not much but light bready malts, a very vague fruitiness and a lingering spicy and herbal bitter hop. Holy crap this even tastes alot like Fat Tire. Guess what, I hate Fat Tire. Actually, I don’t hate this one, I think because it lacks the unpleasant bittering hop of Fat Tire. But in the end I’m no fan of this either - it feels quite a big bland actually, like beery tonic/mineral water. Bad Karma for me.

Bottled. Dark amber, brief head. Aroma of caramel. mango and almonds. Sweetish with clean, hard mouthfeel and somewhat thin body. Strong cardboard flavour, like in an overly aged, severely oxidized beer - then nothing. After the aroma this beer offers nothing but a downhill slope towards a metallic finish.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2005 bottle. pours a ruddy brown with a creamy off white head. aroma is an interesting dusty dark wet scent with some kind of black licorice quality with a yeast note as it warms. there is an underlying sweetness here, but i have to say the nose is not inviting. taste is sweet banana at first that runs into a watery seedless grape finish leaves some spice on my tongue, but also a sour lettuce taste. i have 5 more, so i’ll revisit this later to see if my opinion changes. revisit. not much else to add appearance wise. aroma is sweet wet lettuce and orange peel. sweet orange note with some maltball flavor. seedless grape flavor still comes through, but there is just something about this one that does not please me. i’m gonna let my numbers stand on this one. this is the first beer from this brewery that i have honestly disliked.

This beer pours a golden amber with a small white head. Wow this is a very ordinary and blandish beer! Not much character, very little flavor and no good aromas like a good belgian. This is probably avery’s worst beer if you ask me. Avery’s specialty brews tend to be good but some of thier mainline stuff is not! Oh well, good thing I only have to drink 2 more of these (I split the sixpack). Cheers!

Beer pours a amber color. The head is thin and white, no staying power, no lacing. The nose is very light. The flavor is light and watery. This beer is a complete miss, I thought it was a Belgium but I would call it a amber lager.

Bottle at Cardinal 15.9.2010. Pours clear golden with an off-white head, about a finger thick, leaving a fair lacing. Wooden, lactic sour and fruity aroma. Sour, bitter and sweet. Light to medium body. Dry texture with an astringent finish. Medium carbonation. Not a good product.

Grape juice pale ale. Belgian ester. Bland notes. Copper color pour. Pretty good body. Not my favorite.

Junedale Beer Klub - June Beer Tasting ("Fruity" Beers)

5/30/2007: Avery Karma Ale pours a clear, golden yellow color with a medium foamy ivory head that leaves some foamy lacing. The aroma is bland malts and initially has some sweet orange and hint of corriander (similar to a Belgian Wit). The flavor is like that of generic beer with a vegetable-like backend. The alcohol is also somewhat obvious and the thin, overcarbonated palate. This is a weird brew.

12 oz bottles shared by supa.

I love most Avery beers. Who can fault a brewery who gave us the Trinity and the Unholy Trinity among other offerings. This was a big disappointment. Deep amber in color with a fleeting white head. Sweet, fruity aroma. Apples, honeydew, caramel, citrus. Light bodied, watery, ample carbonation. Slightly sweet flavor with a bitter finish but totally forgettable.
