Witbeer with Passionfruit

Luscious. Juicy. Tart. And like no other! Adding a tropical island flair to a spicy traditional witbier, Liliko’i Kepolo erupt with monumental passionfruit aroma and acidity along with a sublimely succulent finish.

Pours a very hazy yellow with a thin, long-lasting white head. Aroma is pepper, spicy notes, passionfruit, and tropical fruits and citrus, such as grapefruit. Flavor is dominated by the passionfruit, with other tropical fruits such as pineapple and some citrus, more grapefruit, making a dent. There are also peppery and spicy notes. I think passionfruit is great in a beer. Adds a great flavor and a dimension of tartness. As one rater noted, this would be even better as a summer sipper, but as it stands I think it’s delicious on a cold night too.

Pours a hazy golden yellow from the can with fluffy white head that dissipates slowly to leave moderate lace. Aroma is huge on the passionfruit notes, a hint of acidity, and a nice wheat base. Taste is all sorts of tropical with a nice acidic twang, no signs of a witbier here for me, but I’m ok with that. Really way better than I was expecting.

Cloudy golden color and very unique fruit aroma and taste. Very low bitterness. Leans sour.

11/6/15. On tap, Bleu Cafe. Orange pour with a small khaki head. Light fruity aroma, crackery, orange, light spice. Doughy flavor, orange, crackery, light spice a hint of fruit. Basically just a standard witbier - was a little disappointed.

A nice fruity witbier, with tart zing in the finish that really separates it as a refreshing summer beer. Strangely, I drank this on a cool night at Churchkey, and I might like it more if I tried it again on a warm Florida day.

Can: Very cloudy...muddy-yellow with a small white head. Pink grapefruit, passion fruit, orange aroma. Super-juicy passion fruit, wheat malt flavor. Very tropical....sweet, yet biting citrus.... This would be a nice compliment to a beach-side breakfast.

Can. Nose is enormously strong passionfruit juice, some bitter pith/rind. Pours hazy yellow-golden with a large and noisy, frothy beige head. Taste all passionfruit, hint of coriander, soft light body extremely drinkable (more moreish than juice), distinctly tangy-tart (but not sour), lightly spicy, very slightly phenolic, bread in the finish. sweetness that seems likely to cloy at first but dries mildly and finds balance from the tanginess. Pleasant round maltiness, wheat slickness, strong carbonation. The wit character is more evident after a minute or two. Exactly what it promises to be, and a great bit of fun. [2015.12.24: 4.0]

Can extra in trade. I’m rating this because I was careless when opening it and punctured the can with the knife I was using to cut tape. Poured a murky yellow color with a big foamy white head. Aroma of tons of tropical fruits. Flavor to me was mostly pineapple, almost like pineapple juice, some passionfruit, and hints of mango. Quite tasty, easy to drink, and refreshing. Lighter body, sticky texture, lively carbonation, easy finish.

Tasting at Hackney’s Printers Row. Hazy yellow pour. The aroma is dominated by pineapple and fruit. Tastes of flaked wheat. I get more pineapple and grapefruit than passionfruit. Very tart finish. Pretty good. Definitely unique.

Daft pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Tropical passion fruit orange lemon aroma. Nice balanced flavor, dry and fruity, mildly tart. Medium body, lively carb.
