Witbeer with Passionfruit

Luscious. Juicy. Tart. And like no other! Adding a tropical island flair to a spicy traditional witbier, Liliko’i Kepolo erupt with monumental passionfruit aroma and acidity along with a sublimely succulent finish.

355ml can. Pours hazy yellowish with a tiny head. Aroma of tropical passionfruits, spices, stuffy yeastiness, citrus and lemon. Taste is fruity, tartish and slightly stuffy with some passionfruit, yeast, spices and citrus. Finish is sweetish, juicy and mildly tart with hints of passionfruit, lemon, dough and citrus. Refreshing.

35,5 cl bottle @ hotel room, Los Angeles. Aroma is rather weird with strong gooseberry bush leaves and nettles. Also some grapefruit. Flavour has baking stuff, grapefruit, citrus and minerals. Like a radler, but better.

12 ounce can. Hazy yellow pour. Fruit punch. Tart. Some berry. That is something very different. Probably better on a hot day than 9pm.

From can to teku, pouring a hazy glowing yellow with a quickly fizzling head, dissipating to nothing. Aroma is yeasty with, of course, the tart passionfruit, some soft flowery notes, and citrus zest. The flavor opens up with a juicy passionfruit, then kicks right into a puckering tartness of apple, yeast, and lemon. Belgian styles, sours, goses, etc., not particularly my palate’s preference at all, yet I was able to cheerfully finish every last drop.

Can: Pour is murky medium golden - with a two fingered , fine bubbled white head into this glass. It is nice - and retains fairly well here. THe presumption is that this is there run of the mill wit base - I believe that is the case - it doesn’t matter though - the passion fruit infusion is a brilliant combo - this is just a terrific summer beer for me. Floral and Passion fruit on the nose initial, moving to the bready, light spiced, feint citrus wit base. The flavor profile reveals juicy passion fruit, peppery spice notes, moving to a light grass base with a touch of florals. There is a bright , juicy finish line that fades into the next sip.... and then the next.
