Sample at the Avery Tap Takeover at 4th Street Patio Bar and Grill on 09/26/2012: The beer is a hazy orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of tropical fruit and bready malt. Light-bodied with a tasty passion fruit character and floral and toasted malt notes. The finish is sweet with a lingering tropical fruit aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Canned. Poured a bright cloudy yellow. Juicy tropical fruits, pie apple and lemon witte. Very nice.

355ml can. Hazed light gold/orange pour. Smell is cooked passion fruit. Flavor is a passionfruit spritzer. One of my favorite fruits but this does’t capture it well, not sour or juicy enough. Floored by the high ratings? The can cost over 3$ so that is maybe why.

Can. Pours a hazy gold with a light, fine-grained white head. Nose is amazingly pungent; passion fruit, tropical fruit, floral notes. Really lovely. On the tongue, it’s astonishing -- one of the purest expressions of fruit I’ve ever had in a beer. The passion fruit is right there, and it complements the beer very well. There is some wit beer toast and esters underneath, and it goes nicely. Smooth and not too sweet on the finish. Elegant.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2015 4oz Draft at Spacebar. Hazy yellow with small white head. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit, with some bread and yeast. Slight sour notes along with odd spices Interesting but not very good.

Can. Pours a hazy, über-pale yellow with a frothy white head. Looks like a witbier to me. Nose is funky yeast and big passion fruit, grassy, minerals, white pepper. Mouth is creamy, medium-light body, mildly tart and fruity (passion fruit obviously) with some bready notes and some pepper. I could literally drink a gallon of this stuff. Side note: this ’fruit beer’ bullshit is the crown prince of all the fucking retarded all-inclusive pigeonhole categories on RateBeer. Annoys me to no end. This is a Wit, first and foremost, with some passion fruit.

Pours an opaque bright yellow gold color with white fizzy head. Tartness, lilikoi, wheat, funk, and a little yeast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes very tart and dry. Nice.

Draft at Kiabaca with James 07.22.2015. Grapefruit juice colored opaque pour, washy small white head. Funky/wheaty banana nose and a very sweet palate, light peach or other similar stone fruit. Something on the nose I can’t put my finger on, a funky cheese or something. Will try again.

Pour is a cloudy milky yellow with a large white head. Aroma is pretty much all fruit. Passion fruit or citrus take your pick. Flavor is again fruity but also very tart. Finish is again some tartness on the tongue. Pretty fruity and fresh, almost too fresh. I have not had Avery’s White Rascal in a while but I’m sure this is the base beer with the passion fruit juice added. Pretty refreshing.

Hazy pale golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, wheat, passionfruit. Taste of the same, tart wheat, and sweeter passionfruit in the end.

Can. Cloudy bright yellow. Lightly tart with wheat and a lot of tropical fruit. Pappaya, mango, pineapple, etc. balanced and awesome. Packed with flavor and very complex. Perfect for an island vacation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
