Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - MAR 4, 2009
Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Black color. Heavy roast & coffee aroma. Port, almond, roast, intense coffee, char and chocolate. Very complex, a lot going on. The coffee element combined with the extra maturing time made this beer quite tasty.

BeerandBlues2 (6096) - Lone Tree, Colorado, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Draught. Pours opaque with an average, frothy, dark brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, toffee, burnt grain), average hops (flowers, perfume, grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke, tar, wood, alcohol, raisin, date, and prune. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a dry-spicy finish. Long duration, heavy sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. Please bottle this one too!

BlackForestCO (958) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2009
On tap at BSAF. Poured a deep, oily brown/black color with a quarter-inch beige head that diminished to a thin ring. Aroma is basically all fresh coffee grounds with some light undertones of chocolate and roasted malts. Sweet, smooth entry with some fresh coffee beans that led into an even more robust roasted coffee flavor with a bit of sweet chocolate that leads into a moderately bitter, dry hoppy finish with a bit of chalk. Low carbonation, smooth and full on the palate. Overall, this was pretty good, but certainly more one dimensional than the regular Meph.

3fourths (6385) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 28, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2009 Intensely rich, oily and thick black body. Nose is just saturated with this rich, sticky green, oily coffee bean aroma. Certainly vibrant, fresh, green, and excitable, but that’s about all I see going on in the nose... still, smells quite good. Body is ridiculously oily, thick, and smooth, and I think this is about as well as you can make one of these super-alcohol beers. Have to say it’s much, much better than any sample of regular Mephistopheles I’ve had. That one I’m not a big fan.

Ratman197 (5916) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - DEC 3, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2008 On tap at Avery Tasting Room poured an opaque black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate and light vanilla. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, bitter chocolate and light vanilla with a smooth lingering bitter coffee finish.
