anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jul 2, 2007 Bottle @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours a black color with a tan head. Roasted malty slightly vinous aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee. Sweet smooth roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor with some woody hints. Also some weak hints of dark fruits. Long warming slightly alcoholic finish with chocolate and molasses in the aftertaste. Very lovely. radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2007 Very dark brown in colour - near black - beige coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is extremely hot, very sweet, boozy, chocolate and dark fruits. The flavour is very unbalanced with all of the distracting alcohol, very hot, some chocolate, light hops, molasses, brown sugar. Very boozy, sweet and hot mouthfeel, medium/large body, high carbonation. Finishes hot, lingering. Unbalanced doesn’t even come close to describing this, the alcohol was just too overpowering.

OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jun 28, 2007 12 oz bottle courtesy boutip, Batch #1, bottled January 2006. Completely opaque dark chocolate brown colour with a mostly diminishing fizzy and creamy tan head. Vinous, rich chocolate, caramel, roasty, cappuccino, raisin, and citrus aroma. Vinous, brown sugar, molasses, dark chocolate, raisin, and other dark fruit, and orange flavours with a fruity and alcohol finish. Full bodied, rich and warming mouthfeel. Alcohol is there, but definitely not 15% there. Very good. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Jun 27, 2007 Bottled. 15.1%ABV version. Very black coloured. Cherries, almonds, chocolate, dried fruits, liquor and toffee in the aroma. The same stuff in the flavour plus loads of other things. Sweet. Extremely complex. Towards the finish it gets quite hoppy and dry. Very full bodied. Very smooth and soft mouthfeel. Very well balanced. The alcohol is smoothly hidden. Excellent. corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2007 Pours a very dark color with a dark coffee brown head. Hints of caramel, chocolate, and alcohol in the aroma. Sweet chocolate/ roasted coffee taste makes this one of the tastier imperial stouts I’ve had. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jun 24, 2007 Pour is black with small-bubbled tan head. Good retention and lacing for a filtered beer. Nose is very full and complex--caramelized dark fruits (as suggested) abound the nostrils, molasses, a little booze, some chocolate and coffee as well. Flavor is very sweet and cloying, molasses is the first thing I taste along with a little alcohol. Another sip--unmistakeable molasses again, maybe some toffee, but much lighter on the chocolate and coffee flavors I am used to tasting in big imperial stouts. The flavor is really disappointing to me considering how pleasent the nose was. Just cant get past the molasses. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Love the label. michael-pollack (2603), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 8, 2007 12oz. Bottle: The aroma was on the sweet side. Smelled liked floral hops, sugary fruits, and alcohol. Poured dark black with a big, brown, head that lasted throughout. Good lacing. Very opaque. Very pretty beer. Flavor was very sweet. Tasted of roasted malts, alcohol, and smoke. Full body. Thick texture. Soft carbonation. Short malty finish. Overall, good, but too sweet and malty. toncatcher (228), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Jun 8, 2007 12 oz. bottle in a trade form Captaincougar (Batch 1). Pours black with almost no head. Aroma of malt, molasses, and dark fruit. Flavors of molasses and sweet malt, and candied fruit. Very nice.
