4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a cavernous black with a brown head that disappeared. Aromas of burnt malts, coffee, chocolate and a bit of brimstone. Well canít say this beer isnít intimidating as hell, because it is. There is so much going on I canít even begin to wrap my head around it. So much coffee and chocolate, as well as espresso coming through at times. But damn, this beer is powerful. The devil is in the detail....

0.355l bottle 2012 model from my Secret Santa, bytemensis. Huge thanks! Looks really good in the glass this one. A really jet oily black pour on this one and it has a nice thick lacing deep dark espresso brown head. Itís super toasty and roasted on the nose. A lot of espresso and cocoa powder with both sweet superb dark chocolate and some wood tones. I ALSO get traces of honey here. Lovely lovely. So much intense flavor! It not an understatement to say that itís dark, really sweet and roasted in the taste this. As good a burned or even charred with lots of nice dark things that works well together. Strong cocoa powder and cocoa nibs, I get charred wood, sweet sticky vanilla, dried dark fruits and a super strong also burn that combines all the roasty elements. After the swallow you are left with the same flavor you get from eating good quality dark Belgian chocolate. A superb tasty mighty and powerful one. A true sipper, definitely not something you chug down! Huge thanks for the bottle! 20.04.2014

I found a Batch 2 (Nov 2006) in my parentís garage along with a few other nicely aged beers. This stout held up nicely. Head is a little flat but not too bad. Big, roast heavy aroma. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, a little pepper, coffee, and molasses. Licorice finish. Still a lot of alcohol burn - it hasnít mellowed at all.

Taste has loads of liqueur filled dark chocolate, cherries, raisin, salty notes, some bitter hops and some warming alcohol at the end.
Full body, soft carbonation, thick and velvety mouth feel.
Warming after taste.
Massive Imperial Stout, glad to have had this one. Like drinking liquid cherry liqueur chocolate truffles.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (2013 Vintage). Drinking this a bit early, but WTF... here we go: Pours a sinister and impenetrable soot black, massive espresso colored head with outstanding retention and decent lacing. Nose is dark roastiness, malt, cocoa, hint of butterscotch, licorice, coffee beans. Mouth is sticky and almost syrupy sweet, chocolate, brown sugar, licorice, malt, coffee, butterscotch, a bit of soot on the back end, warmth from the ridiculous ABV. Probably would taste better with age, but not bad as it is now though. After OT in Game 7 here in Chicago, itís gonna be Rangers vs. Kings in Final. LGR!!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2009 vintage On tap 6 oz pour, pours a pitch black color with a thin tan head Thad leaves decent lacing. Smells of dark malts, dark fruit, tobacco, black licorice and chocolate. Tastes of the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is heavy and creamy with good carbonation. Wow what a beast. It was a nice way to kick off Stout fest and Seattle beer week.
