CamdenD (570), Madrid, Spain Jul 24, 2007 A bit disappointing this one. Big roasted malt nose which hides really any alcohol component. Beautiful deep jet-black color with decently residual head (even in a slightly oversized snifter). However, here, this beer begins to tip itself off the table. I consider myself appreciative of big dark beer and can usually pick out at least a few different flavors, but I struggle to get more than spoiled fruit and licorice. Alcohol burn is definitely present on the palate, but overwhelming is this off-berried taste (bad bottle?). Too bad, I was really looking forward to this one. Not even in the same country code as WWS.
FrankJohansen (2807), Sabro, Denmark Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Black colour with a light brown head. Lots of taste, lots of different aromas. Slightly alcholic finish. Strong, but very good. CaryTheDude (260), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Oct 1, 2008 Jakebra crush. Black like death. Feel the alcohol burn all the way down. One intense mofo of a beer. Flavor hides the alcohol, lots of dark fruits. One hell of a kick. Awesome brew. Hansen (1769), Randers, Denmark Sep 30, 2008 First impression: Me, I like it! Dark, dark coloured, black. Light brown head, mostly lasting. Aroma has lots of dark malts, coffee, chocolade, a bit laqurice. Strong flavor, long lasting. Heavy sweet and bitter, dark and roasted. Full bodyed, ceramy, heavy warming alcohol. jblendy (461), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 Pours black with a small dark brown head. Strong aroma of booze, raisins, coffee, and some slight chocolate. Flavor follows the aroma quite well with lots of raisin and coffee, a bit of vanilla, and warming alcohol. Ole_R (1279), Oslo, Norway Sep 24, 2008 Draught@EBF 2008. Jet black, Low tan head. Dark roasted malts, alcohol, dried fruits, licorice and bitter chocolate in the aroma. Taste has a strong and sweet roasted malt base with a rummy accent. Coffe, chocolate and charcoal is there too. Thick texture, big body. Alcohol in the finish. Extremely powerful, and a little rough around the edges.
