Taproom at the 2009 GABF. Clear and brilliant amber color with thin white head. Fresh sweet nose, no hops as the malts dominate. Medium carbonation and malty sweetness in the mouthfeel. Nose has the bourbon mix of oak, vanilla, toffee, and buttery notes. I also got farmhouse notes in the nose and the taste.

Enjoyed at the Avery Taproom in Boulder, CO during GABF week, 2009. Burnt orange pour. Sour orange, lemon, oak, and vanilla aroma. Bourbon, tangerine, vanilla, and alcohol flavor. Excellent.

notalush (3740) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 26, 2009
Draft sample at the brewery - viscous, hazy orange pour - zero head - intensely sweet honey and candi sugar up front, along with strong vanilla, oak, boozy character - this is followed by strong spicy qualities, as well as some apple, pear - the whiskey comes through a lot in the finish - seriously sticky, boozy, and sweet - tastes like a little too much samael’s went into this - still not a terrible big beer experiment from this brewery.

Hazy orange-red pour with an off-white head, good lacing. Powerful oak sweet aroma with oatmeal cookie, apple and spice. Sweet fruity flavors that linger and eventually lead to a spicy dry finish. Smooth medium body with low carbonation and moderate alcohol warmth. Good one!

On tap at Avery poured a clear amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of whiskey, oak, vanilla and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of whiskey, oak, vanilla, light fruittiness and light spice with a smooth lingering whiskey finish.
