On tap at Avery poured a clear amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of whiskey, oak, vanilla and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of whiskey, oak, vanilla, light fruittiness and light spice with a smooth lingering whiskey finish.

Sampled at the first brewvival festival. Pours a hazy orange. Syrupy sweet nose. And the flavor is even sweeter. I could never drink more than a few ounces of this stuff. Honey notes are huge. Definitely walks the barleywine line. But hides the abv okay.

Pours a deep amber color with off white head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel malts , wood , molasses and alcohol. Flavor is somewhat sweet and fruity, which helps to hide the alcohol, with the bourbon coming through nicely. Decent brew.

Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Lots of barrel aging flavors, Bourbon, oak and big malt flavors. This was a tasty beer. This had a sneaking presence for the alcohol.

I am not a Samael fan but this works for me. Maybe it’s the Reverend half kicking in but those combined with the casks tones down each. The balance is just right. Not light for sure but not a beast to drink.

On tap at the Charleston Brewvival on 02/27/2010. Cloudy orange amber body with a small off-white head. Big floral and yeasty aroma. Big oak and yeast flavor. Full body with moderate carbonation.

full pour at dlday 2010... pours a semi-clear caramel brown with a creamy off-white head... aroma of butter, caramel, and boozy barrel... buttery sweet and boozy flavors with a smooth and creamy body. overly barreled is the impression that i get. these notes suck.

hellbilly (3053) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 30, 2010
on tap 4/15/10 at papago... hazy coppery orange brown with a trim off white head. rich sticky sweet aroma... honey, dates, vanilla, brown sugar, wood, a bunch of alcohol burn, bruised red apples, tart raisins, herbaceous hops, coconut and clove-like whiskey spice. the flavor is a sweet version of the already sweet aroma with a touch of sourness on the finish. alcohol is right up front even when it comes cold off the tap. it is definitely full bodied but it is not as sticky as i imagined. 7/4/6/3/14/3.4

Amber color with very minimal head. Aroma is big, lots of alcohol, not hidden at all. Flavor is sweet, caramel, sticky, some smoke and very strong alcohol. Finished smokey and burnt with some wood and toasted caramel.

This was a guest beer at DLD 2010. There was no head. Sported a rich red color. the aroma was a huge bomb of fruits, caramel, malt, and some hidden notes of oak in the background. Flavor was extremely complex but very sweet and a syrup texture on the tongue.

Crushed at BSAF 10. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Very warming as it goes down, even after having a bunch of other strong ales previously. Very sweet with nice barrel character flowing all the way through. Awesome beer.
