Pours a clean and bright straw yellow with a very minimal head. nose shows lots of funky and vinous notes. Acidity and esters are pretty clean and there is a definitive raw grape must with some fruity notes. Has more body than expected. Very nice acidity. Lots of vinous character with a prominent fruitiness. Lightly tannic.

Tasted at Stone Oakquinox 2012. Hazy gold pour. Lots of white grape, oak, muscat grape, light sweetness, and lightly tart citrus. Pretty good, I wouldn’t seek this out a second time though.

Pours a slightly clouded golden color with a white head. Very strong grape character to this. Lots of sweet muscat grapes but a very pronounced chardonnay character as well. Slight brettanomyces funk with maybe a touch of medicine. The flavor is also heavy on the grape and white wine character with moderate lactic tartness. Lots of wood and mild to moderate funkiness. Not bad, but no Cuvee de Castleton, either.

12oz bottle courtesy of adnielsen. Cheers, Aaron! Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Nose is light malt, white grapes, muscato, must, some funk, and some mild citrus. Flavor is similar with light malt, white grapes, must, funk, and some citrus with hints of burlap/ barnyard. It is a very balanced wild, with the white grape/ muscato character coming to the front that is quickly followed by the bugs and must of a wild. Medium in body and nice. I am curious what is going to happen to this one with age; will it become a brett bomb, or will the grapes become the most prominent? Very interesting.

I don’t normally like sours. Nice and cloudy and smells like a fairly typical sour. But, SURPRISE! Delicious. Not as sour as expected. Almost like the cream soda of sours. MMMMMM.

12oz. Bottle (Bottled 1/26/12).: Got in trade from stumpyiliz; THANKS Aaron! Aroma of light funk, white grapes, light Chardonnay, light oak, muscat, vanilla, and some Brett. Poured yellow/gold in color with a large, loose, white head that diminished and became creamy and dense. Hazy. Very sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of grapes, oak, vanilla, funk, slight Brett, and fruit. Light to medium body. Slick, creamy, then lightly dry, lightly sticky texture. Soft to average carbonation. White grape, oak, vanilla, slight Brett finish is slightly dry. 10.78%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Steve_0 (201) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 17, 2012
Poured a glowing gold, with a small white head that quickly dissipated. No lacing. Aroma is medicinal, white grapes, yeast, funk, and brett. Taste is sweet grape/white wine, somewhat medicinal, funk, yeast, and ends lightly tart and spicy. High carbonation and a thin mouthfeel. Amazingly refreshing for 11% ABV.

Pours golden yellow with light white head that quickly dissipates. Nose is grape and a bit of funk. Taste is crisp, a little tart, and fairly sweet. A lot of wine characteristics with this.

Bottle. Pours clear and sparkling gold with a small, champagne bubbly white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is Brettanomyces, oak, grape and vinous (Chardonnay) notes, straw and biscuit malt with light fruity esters (pear, apple). Flavor is tart grapes and dry Chardonnay, oak, pears and apples, supporting malt and a dry finish. Medium body, warmth and carbonation.

Huge thanks to Armin for the hookup! Bottle pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is fruity and tart with notes of lime, green apple, honey, pear, and that oh so wonderful bretty funk. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of melon, vanilla, oak, and a definite chardonnay/muscat presence. It’s actually quite strange. It reminds me a lot of a sweet version of a dry hungarian muscat, but not quite on the same level as a tokaji. Interesting. Overall body is moderate, and the finish is dry/tart.
