3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle pours a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head that faded slowly and leaves good lacing. Smells of chocolate, caramel and roasted malt. Tastes of all the same things in the smell but a little citrus is noticeable in the back end must be from the dry hopping. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with good carbonation and a semi dry finish. What a good porter, very balanced and flavorfull. The dry hopping almost makes it a black ipa in my opinion.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: dark brown, nearly black. ’Chunks’ of sediment floating in suspension. Pours with a 2" beige head that recedes slowly with moderate lacing.
Aroma: cocoa powder, coffee, citrus rind hops.
Mouthfeel: medium and slightly chewy with a dry finish.
Flavor: an echo of the aroma with cocoa, coffee, some carmel sweetness and a bold citrus rind bitterness that lingers in the finish.
Overall: Good, but not great.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black with thin, lacing head. Nose of coffee with a shot of caramel. Malty roasted notes are superseded by a crisp hop bitterness. Really nice, full mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2013 Hoppy aroma which are fairly light up front and slowly fade away. Dark pour with only about a quarter inch of head. The hops and porter taste balance each other out.

Bottle from Brennans. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has bakers chocolate, coffee and caramel, with some subtle hoppiness. Taste is of bittersweet chocolate, sweet caramel and roasted malts. Medium bodied and quite dry. Finishes more bitter than sweet. Possibly a bit thin. Solid porter.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very nice. It seems like a combination between a black IPA and a porter. The aroma is roasted malts and piney hops. The color is a very dark brown with a tan head. Average carbonation and weight. There remains a coating at the back of the mouth. More roasted malts flavor with coffee and hops bitterness. Well balanced.
