A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

Pours dark brown with almost no head. Aroma is roasted malts and hops. I had no idea this was a black IPA until I read the bottle. Didnít expect the strong hop aroma. Taste is dark chocolate and hops. Not much of a porter taste except on the backend, but itís a pretty decent black IPA.

Some malty coffee flavors, some biscut/toast as well along with a touch of nutty chocolateness. Not a whole lot of head, almost no real prominent aroma that I could note.

Bottle pour at home. Dark pour with roasted malt and chocolate. Long lasting chocolate and caramel flavor. Not exactly a stand out porter, but I enjoyed it.

355ml bottle. The description up here is humorous. Dark pour, crea smell is nice, almost strictly burnt roasted malts with a nice caramel, coffee, cocoa, and hop backing. The flavor is nice, lots of peat and cocoa, coffee, hints of melon which is strange but nto upsetting, sharp and dry, nicely robust. Decent porter.

Very good porter, taste of malts, chocolate and coffee blend well together with some hop presence to balance things out.

On tap at Shamrocks. Served a dark virtual black color with a nice thick head with ample lacing. Aroma of roasted malt nice touch of citrus, with vanilla, chocolate and dab of coffee. Taste of roasted malt, bit of citrus with a subtle blend of chocolate and coffee. Mild bitterness and a dry finish. Pretty full bodied, smooth and creamy. Has a nice robust flair. Very enjoyable Porter.

12 oz. bottle. From the label: "a pioneer black IPA." Exactly. Poured dark brown/black with a moderate foamy head. Aroma is all hops with slight alcohol heat. One of the more hop forward black IPAs I've had. Taste is pine and citrus with subtle roast character. Finishes slightly bitter with resinous hop aftertaste. Really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at the Funky Buddha in Boca Raton. Snifter. Very deep black pour with a one finger, off-white head. The aroma was huge roasted malt presence, hops, light coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla. The taste was big roasted malts and surprised with the hop presence. It was nearly a Black IPA. Good roasted notes, vanilla, light coffee. Medium body and decent carbonation. The finish was a little bitter and closed. As it warmed I liked it better. A little light for a porter as well.

I just do not like hoppy beer @ all. Stouts are not supposed to be hoppy in my opinion.
