A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

Deep clear ruby body topped by a rocky tan head. A very strong nose, sweet malt and lots of hops. Very nice aroma, one of the better porter aromas I have run across. The flavor is lots of citrus hops and just enough roasted malts to make it clear this is a porter. Smooth medium-full mouthfeel. Finish is medium bitter. Overall a very good porter. Thanks to BBB63.

12 oz bottle, snifter. Lots of lemons! Some caramel, chocolate, plums Dry hopping dominates the aroma. Deep brown body with a tan head. Flavor is heavily sweet upfront but quickly gives way to a dry hopped bitterness (m. sweet). Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: lemon pound cake.

The initial aroma is of lemon squares, burnt brownies, chocolate syrup and hops. Kind of like walking into a coffee shop, but definitely overpowered by the lemon zing. A very luscious mouthfeel, light chocolate syrup coats your tongue but then again a slightly thin mouthfeel and does not have much of a lingering aftertaste. This is still a very good porter and very easy to drink, I would buy this again.

Dark sweet rich aroma, plenty of sprucy and piney hops, a touch of milky sweetness as well. Soft, seductive mouthfeel. Chocolate with roastiness lurking just beneath it. Roast comes on as it warms. Very nice and more than the sum of its parts.

Not as good as Fuller’s but still a great Porter. Pours a very dark brown/black with a thick light brown head. Thin, spidery lacing throughout. The aroma is roasty with hops and cocoa. Medium-bodied with a nice blend of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee flavors. The finish is roasty and lightly hopped and lasting. I liked this one.

Dark brown body with big tan head, lovely lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, some herbal/earthy. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, grapefruit/earthy, some caramel. Medium body. The blend of flavors really work well.

The New World Porter poured an opaque midnight black. It had a monstrous brown head that had good staying power and laced the glass.

The aroma is chocolate and fruity hops with a touch of fig.

The taste is chocolate malt, with some big bitter hops, and a hint of citrus. Some figs come out as the beer warms. It has a strong burnt, chalky, slightly metallic taste/mouthfeel that mellows some with time. If not for this, this would be a top notch brew.

Overall this is a very different/interesting brew. It’s kind of an IPA and porter mix.

Appearance: dark, rich brown, and a big, creamy, cocoa/ tan head. Aroma is perfect! Rich, delicious, bitter at first, but quickly dissolves into a luscious, creamy essence, redolent with notes of coffee, spice, rum, pepper, anise...a beautiful blend! Taste possesses small bitterness, thick, sweet, roasted malt, and is ultimately rounded out and smoothed, immensely palatable. Tenacious flavor continues with every sip, and is instantly met with creamy smoothness. Long, rich, flavorful finish. Yum, yummy, yum! Damned near perfect, and I’d put it up there with Anchor for flavor and smooth drinkability. If the world was better, I could get this around here, and drink it every day

Excellent brew. Black as night in my chalice of doom. Dark caramel colored head that lingers and lingers and lingers. Smells like a kettle pot from a middle earth brewery. Roasty...blackened...and suprisingly fruitily bitter. The dry-hopping at work. This beer is incredibly asertive for a porter. I felt like I got kicked in the mouthballs. It hits your mouth and all of a sudden all of the blood in your body rushes to your mouth. tastes of burnt toast...espresso...burnt meat even. Tied together with the fruit of the vine...hops. Lovely. This beer will explode in your mouth. Even the alcohol bites you back and its only 6.8.Worth Drinking on a daily basis. Still not as good as Anchor porter though. G-rat

Bottled. You can barely see daylight through this dark, dark porter. Its fluffy tan head leaves great lacing on the glass. The aroma is more hoppy than most porters, and the flavor has a nice dry hop along with a potent chocolate kick. The mouthfeel is a little thin for my taste, but this is an excellent beer. Thanks to Brownaler for the trade.
