3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark caramel pour. Easy tan head that slowly dwindled. Dark body with noticeable red hints. Slightly sweet for a second before the bitterness and dark chocolate with a hint of coffee came through. The bitterness was long lasting. Medium mouth feel.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours opaque with tall cream colored head, lasts forever. Aroma is coffee, cascade hops, caramel. Flavor is roasted nicely with a delicious bitter finish that hangs around. An exceptional porter if you like the "new world" variety. Give me another. Stupendous.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with ruby highlights and a small beige head. The aroma was full of milk chocolate, cirusy (mainly orange) hop tones, and some roasted coffee. The flavor was similar to the aroma, but had a great toffee aftertaste. the feel was medium thin...crisp...semi-dry finish. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2008 [bottle] Pours a very deep ruby red that looks almost black with a thin tan head. Nutty aroma with an undertone of coffee and alcohol. Very strong roasted aroma with a slightly bitter and chocolaty finished. The bitter stays with you for a time. Quite tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was a delicious porter. Poured deep red-brown with a medium, persistent light tan head. Caramely, somewhat nutty aroma. Very rich flavor with roasted malts leading to very strong layered chocolate and caramel, finishing with earthy, spicy hops that create a piney, slightly bitter aftertaste. This does indeed "expand" the porter category and works very well. Superior to the Out of Bounds Stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium off white head and jet black body. A little bitter roast in front with fruits in back, just like porters should be.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown with reddish highlights producing a creamy fading tan head and outstanding lace. The aroma hints of bittersweet chocolate, roasted caramel, floral and grassy hops, currents and cherry, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts with a mocha and caramel note but quickly a piney hop bitterness comes forth. Additional tones of grapefruit, rye bread, and minor coffee are detected as well. The finish is bitter, slightly nutty and lasting. This thin to medium-bodied porter as a lively and yet smooth mothfeel. While not fully within style characteristics, it is a fine drink never the less. Quaffable and refreshing. Glad to have more than one bottle. Thanks tidiaguy and Tannertavernboys for hooking me up with this beer.
