BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 20, 2008 This is quite a nice porter, with some good roastiness and a nice amount of toffee/caramel character in addition to more hops than I’ve experienced previously in beers of this style.
Appearance was quite dark and opaque with only a little whisp of tan head. Aroma was a bit hoppy with a good amount of caramel and some pleasant earthiness. Flavor was more caramel-y with evident hops. Mouthfeel was good but unexceptional.
I’d recommend this porter. I had mine on-tap at Roman’s Pub in Milwaukee.
EHopper (80), Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 Very dark. Strong light penetrates one quarter inch. Tan, almost brown head. Besides the expected dark molasses aroma, there is something unique. I have smelled this before on the farm, in the barn I think. One of those nostalgic smells, sour but welcome. The roasted smell is not coffee, but of grains over roasted like my grandma did to make coffee when we could not afford the real thing. Flavor is a sweet representation of the aroma, well balanced and enjoyable. blutt59 (468), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 27, 2008 bottle, good coffee nose, large tan head, coffee flavors with a nice hop kick at the end, body is light but not watery AdamGott (153), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA Jun 25, 2008 dark brownwith a reddish tint pour with light brown head - smells of molasses and hops - wonderful melange of flavors including chocolate, molasses and a light hint of vanilla. Very good. uhre (173), Denmark Jun 24, 2008 The head disappears, it’s dark red when up against the light. Aroma of roasted barley. Flavor is full of chocolate and roasted barley. A thin body. mjs (378), Finland Jun 18, 2008 (Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-06-15) Deep dark brown colour. Clear. Medium-sized tan head. Hops and roasted malts in nose.
