Commercial Description:
A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

RIch garnet color, nice caramel head. Roasty aroma, coffee and some alcohol. I don’t pick up any dry hops in the aroma, but this sample isn’t really brand new. Chocolatey, complex malty flavor, very chew. Lightly sour with a bit of a hoppy kick; nice sweetness/bitterness balance, though. Nice example.

Very dark. Strong light penetrates one quarter inch. Tan, almost brown head. Besides the expected dark molasses aroma, there is something unique. I have smelled this before on the farm, in the barn I think. One of those nostalgic smells, sour but welcome. The roasted smell is not coffee, but of grains over roasted like my grandma did to make coffee when we could not afford the real thing. Flavor is a sweet representation of the aroma, well balanced and enjoyable.

The head disappears, it’s dark red when up against the light. Aroma of roasted barley. Flavor is full of chocolate and roasted barley. A thin body.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-06-15) Deep dark brown colour. Clear. Medium-sized tan head. Hops and roasted malts in nose. Full palate with small amounts of carbonation. Chocolate, roasted malts and some vanilla in taste.
