fredandboboflo (635), East Setauket, New York, USA Feb 19, 2008 Bottle. Luscious aroma of chocolate, coffee, some general fruity sweetness, nuttiness. Solid flavor, very classic porter, largely coffee with some nuts. Nice full body. Very impressed.
piscator34 (942), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 12, 2008 Bottled sample. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of Grassy hops, a bit of dark roasted malts, booze, and heavy malts. Loads of malt upfront in the mouth, some caramel, along with grassy-earthy hop notes. Some soya sauce notes crop up before the chocolate elements of the dark roasted malts creep in on the finish. Fairly heavy bodied, and seems a bit boozy for what it is. Not nearly roasty enough for me. A bit of a letdown. DrDavid (363), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 12, 2008 (Bottle). Tart hoppy aroma, and chocolate. Near black body, large brown head with distinct lacing. Unusual flavor blend of porter malt chocolates and hoppy citrus. Blends quite nicely. Mild finish. Very easy sipping. Suttree (2355), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2008 Black, with a thin brown head. coffee-ish aroma, maybe a touch of red wine, too. Thin bodied, in a good way. Coffee, woodsy flavor. I was surprised that I hadn’t had this one before, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Thanks to BVM113VR for the trade! cgarvieuk (2547), Edinburgh, Scotland Oct 3, 2008 Bottle at home ... deep black ... light sweet malt with a light plesent hop ... dry slightly smokey malt.. very soft with a light carbonation ... gentle hoppyness in background. beergod! (52), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 3, 2008 Nice dark in color with a nice brown head. Wow great nose, that of soft roasted grain and light hop. Taste is great! Very layered first you get a nice dark malt, followed with a slight caramel taste, and finally hops. Full bodied and one of the better porters i’ve ever had.
