Clear mahogany body wuth small beige head. Aroma is caramel, malty, slightly sweet and slightly roasty. Flavor is chocolate with nice coffee bitterness. Finish is a bit roasty, and a bit cloying. Medium body. Tasty, but nothing special.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer pours a deep, clear, dark brown color with a small, lingering tan head. It has a strongly nutty malt aroma. Full bodied, flavor is malty up front, with some nuttiness and caramel tones. Finish is sweet and slightly nutty with some hop bitterness present, but not much. Alcohol is well hidden.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark red, with a nice thick head that stuck around for a while. Spicy/hoppy aroma. Malty, a little caramel. Not a very strong taste. Not a bad beer.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
WAY TOO HOPPY!!! This is supposed to be an English Strong Ale? Could have been 20-30 IBUs less. Overall an enjoyable beer but they need to lay off the hops cause this was more bitter than the IPA.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep clear cherrywood color underneath a smallish tan head. Nice earthy hop aroma accompanied by toffee and roasted malt. Nice body and depth of flavor. Roasted malts, earthy hop flavors, nutty and toffeeish. Finish strikes a good balance between deep malt and bitterness. Overall very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very malty and smooth aroma with a nice sweetness. Dark brown-red with lacing off-white head. Low medium carb and medium watery body. Nice malty character, hoppy but not too bitter. Molasses/fruity taste, with nutty finish/after. Good taste and not too sweet.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Complex malt, by turns nutty, sweet, fruity smoky and spicy and all very nicely integrated under a delicate hop nose. Not brilliant, but a tasty tipple.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2006 Rerate: Medium beige head, dark amber color. Sweet toffee, chocolate and hop aroma. Flavor is sweet, bitter, nutty and some alcohol. Finish is bittersweet. Seems to have alot more hops this year.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep red color, nice head. Sweet hoppy aroma. Flavor was balanced expertly with a sweet finish. As it warmed, I got notes of cereal in the finish. A good beer but nothing to make it stand out too much.
