COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2005 Pleasant aroma with berry and pineapple fruitiness, sweet dark malt, hop spice and a hint of chocolate. Deep, dark red in color with a lasting, creamy, off-white head and fine lacing. Flavor provides some toffeeish, bready malt sweetness, faint semi-sweet chocolate, some vaguely punch-like fruit, and a wisp of spicy, Northwest hop flavor and bitterness. Mouthfeel is just right, creamy and lightly effervescent, and with a medium-full body, . Fruity and nutty aftertaste. A very respectable offering.

Dark mahogany with a bone/beige heavy head. Malty aroma with components of toffee, dark malts, light juicy fruit and citrus zest. Malt sweetness on the tip with mild light fruit flavors followed by mild coffee and bitter light chocolate. As this one warms it become quite bitter and the alcohol really comes out. Better cool.

Prunish aroma along with roasted coffee. Semi-carbonated, not much lace on glass. Oily mouthfeel. Malty at first taste, then nice dry finnish. A good beer.

Looks dark enough to be a stout. Aroma of coffee and malt. Wow this is a nice beer. I second the well balanced, it has enough hops to make it interesting. Even the finish is a nice balance between bitterness and sweetness. Excellent Beer.

Very good aroma and appearance when poured. Plum and toffee aroma with a deep dark ruby color. Flavor was pretty complex and well balanced. The bottle I had was slightly overcarbonated, but all in all, it was a very good beer.

Deep ruby body, real tiny bubbles and a creamy tan head. Fruity, berries and ripe cherries. Leathery and musty taste with hints of nuts. Dry and alcoholic on the finish.

Garnet colored; head was average; cherry in the nose. Nice...woody, cherry. Good mouthfeel.

A very nice dark reddish brown color and nice slightly tan head (medium amount) start my first old ale in a while. Aroma is also nice, but not overpoweringly so. The flavor of this one is not as powerful as I had expected, but is still very smooth and quite delicious. Finish is especially nice, on this one. This is a very nice beer, but not with the potency of flavor found in an Old Peculier, for example. This might make for a good "intro" old ale...well done!

There is a big selection of Avery stuff at Merchant of Vino in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it seems to be frequently featured with special marketing displays, so some distributor is really making the effort to get Colorado disseminated out this way. I like this one better than most of their other entries, though they all seem pretty competent. Jubilation has more balance to its bigness than the IPA or the Belgian, a solid set of bitters to match the hearty sweet breakfast biscuit malts.

Brown in color with just a tinge of red, with very little head to speak of. Aroma was malty, flavor was malty, a bit of spice, and a little sweetness. A decent brew overall, but nothing amazing.
