Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

Bottle pour. Hazy reddish brown color with a light tan head. Aroma is quite yeasty, malty, and light notes of toffee. Taste is diverse; mocha, hazelnut, overall spicy. The finish is very woody and malty. Overall pretty full bodied, a good beer. Hides the 8.3%abv well.

On tap at Avery. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a thin white head. The aroma is rich malt yeast and varnish. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a big liqourice hop palate. The finish was not the most pleasant bitterness but it was good to taste.

Brouwerij (929) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 28, 2013
On cask at Avery. Pours a hazy brown with very fine, off-white head. Good retention, rings of lace. Aroma is sweet and malty, some spice. Flavor is sweet, fruity, peach, apricot, spice, with a nutty, sweet malt finish, mild toffee. Soft carbonation, medium-light body, very smooth texture. Alcohol is essentially undetectable. Really like the smoothness of the hand drawn version. Tasty, smooth, and strong.
