Commercial Description:
Our winter strong ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 2 years.

New Years Eve drink. Too bad it was like 50 degrees last night, unlike a few nights ago when it was about 15. This brew would have lit a fire in my heart on a wintry night.

bottle. Pours a deep mahogany, with traces of intense magenta. Head dissipates surprisingly fast. Aroma features cherry, wood, plum, caramel malt, and brown sugar. Carbonation is initially prickly, but palate calms to a smooth, almost syrupy, full-bodied feel that coats the mouth. Flavor is fruity sweet at first, with a touch of malty undertones. Mid-palate forwards some cough medicine, more fruit, and some roasts. Finishes similar, with warming alcohol touch. Overall, I am impressed by the “fullness” of this beer, but not sure I really enjoy all the flavor notes present (cherry, sweet roasts, cough medicine, etc).

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a deep amber with great, rocky beige head that left lacing all over the glass. Sweet aroma of malt, fruit, with some alcohol spice. Flavor is nice, sweet, some spice, very slight baking chocolate, caramel, nutty, alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium body with medium-high carbonation. Over all, tasty warming ale.

Bottle @ EBF. Amber with an off white head. Sweet malts and caramel, hints of nuts, chocolate and fruits with a little hop character shining through. Not bad but not outstanding either, I’m starting to get the hump with Avery now.
