3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TwinBeer (57) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 6, 2013
Pours reddish-brown with soft white head. Aroma of stone fruit, sweet malt and boozy alcohol. Taste fruity sweet but dry leaving your tongue with a light oak bitterness. Overall a complex beer that is good to sip and marvel all of the great flavors.

Tried a bottle of this while visiting Denver. 2012 vintage. Good nutty winter ale that has some complexity.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DavoleBomb (1467) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Poured into a snifter. 2007 vintage, so somewhere in the 5-6 year old range.
3.5 A: Deep brown borderline black color. Just a short frothy head formed and fell quickly. No lacing. In any case, I’m happy about the carbonation level at this point.
4.5 S: Seems that this has aged quite nicely. Still quite potent, but also with smooth, well integrated aromas. Big toastiness, dry caramel, light tobacco, and a pleasant spiciness. Dry overall, but balanced. Not a ton of complexity, but that tends to happen when a beer is aged so long. Despite this, it smells amazing.
4.5 T: Like the nose, it’s hard to find any problem in the taste. Lots of toastiness, caramel, and dry graininess. No hints of booze at all. Fairly dry, but again, balanced.
4.25 M: Medium body. A little undercarbonated compared to what I’d expect fresh, but easily enough for a beer this age. Goes down super easy, but a bit more body and creaminess would be nice.
4.5 D: This drinks like a session beer. So easy to drink. I’m furious that I don’t have another. Tons of flavor, great balance, and no problems.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 12, 2013
My Bottom Line:
Toasted, caramelized malt flavors are inherently spiced by a rye-like character, while potent wooden hops contribute as much flavor as bitterness in this complex, compelling sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam covers the cloudy mahogany.
-The spicy character seems to come from grain bill and hops. It even develops a marzipan-like personality at times.
-Fruit cake allusions also appear.
-The rich body is rounded out by alcohol warmth.
-The flavor profile is harmonious throughout.
-The finish is balanced.
Bottle.

Pours a brown color with a red hue and tan head that leaves good lacing. Smells of caramel, toffee and hazelnut, roasted malt and hazelnut. Tastes of all the same things with molasses and chocolate added. Mouthfeel is heavy and creamy with good carbonation. Overall this was great tasting winter seasonal. Can’t wait to see what some ageing does to it.

Pours a stunning dark amber. Muddled nose thats not very fragrant. Flavor is pretty malt forward then after about half of the beer gone the hops spring forward and round out nicely. Very good.
