COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 3+ years.

Scopey (12217) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 1, 2011
On tap at the Meddlesome Moth, Dallas. It pours a deep ruby-brown colour with small foamy beige head. The nose is fairly subtle - red berries, nuts and caramel. The taste is date, raisin, plum, leather, oak, liquorice, nuts, varnish, a little honey and some lemon sherbet with an astringent-bitter finish. The overall taste is quite dry and bit too savoury, making it quite difficult to finish.

on tap-pours a minimal white head. Color is deep amber. Aroma is grain. Taste is grain, sweet, coffee/chocolate/toasty. An occasional beer for me. Again, this is a Big Beer with that complex, thick taste.

2004 Bottle at The Avery Experience. Caramel mahagony hues with a medium frothy tan head. Caramel and brown sugar aromas with light roasted grains evident and a fruit hop nose. Caramel malt and acidic alcohol flavor with a fruit hop finish, and some vanilla faintly detectable. Medium bodied and warm spicy palate.

Bottle, from Lyager Vine, Fredericia. A dark red pour with a small off-white film head. Aroma has distant nuts, a good dose of caramel, some sherry and a touch of oak. Quite low carbonation, sort of oily. Flavour is very powerful, with an alcoholic edge to it. There are tones of chocolate, roasted caramel, oak and a good hoppy finish.

Dark redbrown, smooth light brown head. nutty dark caramelly aroma, also some dark chocolate, some bitter hops in the background. flavor is dark caramelly sweet, dark toffee, faint roasted malts, bitter malts, faint flowery and bitter hop flavor to balance. a beer with lots and lots of taste from malts, but never too sweet.

bright and clear reddish-brown colour with a little foam; aroma of caramel and hazelnut, notes of fir needles, slightly roasted; sweet and full-bodied, very tasty, late but robust bitterness before a dry caramelish, woody and malty finish - a big very impressive beer; big thanks to fiulijn
