COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter ale has a gorgeous mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. Cellarable for 3+ years.

Big thanks to npdemse for this. Pours a wonderful deep shade of ruby with a big, light tan head. Aroma of malt, nutmeg, slight port, toffee. Great complex taste that presented some nuts, toffee, chocolate, cinnamon with a semi-dry finish. Firm palate with a nice balance. This one is a winner.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a clear amber brown with a deep gray head that dissipates to the edges and laces nicely. Aroma has notes of caramel and sweet grain with a hint of backing toffee. Flavor begins with a hint of bread and grains and finishes with sweet grains, a bit of hops and toffee.

Tap at Churchkey thanks to Travlr. Pours a deep red/mahogany with ridiculous lacing all over the place. Red fruit and Twizzler nose...what is up with these Avery beers? Sticky, starchy, artificial red candies. Taste is quite bland, lots of stickiness, mild alcohol heat. Not sure what is going on...but it seems to be a miracle that Avery was able to make a beer as good as Meph Addict with all these underattenuated sugar bombs on deck.

2009-04-10. Very dark brown body with a nice foamy tan head that fades. (3+) Sweet fruit aroma, mild alcoholic undertones, touch of spice? (7+) Flavour is similar, light spice, malt core is a bit mild, touch of oxidation? Light note of raisins or dark fruit in the finish. Smooth medium bodied palate. Decent. Bottle shared by GregClow

12oz bottle. Clear copper color, minimal cream-colored head. Webby on the surface. Decent lace. Very drinkable, light carbonation. Gets substantially better after sitting a bit. Typical christmas spices. A decent christmas that improves after it warms. Nothing particularly outstanding or unique, however.

Clear copper color, tan head. Sweet, malty, roasted, hints of pop-corn, light fruity taste. Dry, bitter, grainy aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high dry bitterness. Sweet, malty, roasted scent.

Mini growler from Half-Time. Pours a clear red brown with a hefty light tan head. Lots of malt, caramel, toffee, and toast on the nose. Medium bodied and a little sweet, with hints of cereal grains. Nice warming malt finish with just a touch of hoppy bitterness.

Very dark chestnut with red shine. Slight, light-brown head. Nose of grapes, raisins, vineous and hops. With warming up, there follows a smell of kaffirlime (peel, as in Thai cuisine). Taste are grapes, tobacco, some bitter chocolate, and lots of hops, but well balanced with dark malts. Very chewy mouthfeel. Retronasal gives nice tobacco-and-hops, long, but after a quite long time, a new impression of sweet chocolate emerges. What impresses me most in this beer is its very succeeded balance.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of almonds, toffee, crunchie bar, cinnamon spice. Taste is sweet and nutty. Finishes sweet. Interesting.
