3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Well. The shelf tag @ Archer would have me believe that this is an 07 batch of Jubilation. Not quite sure. Wish I would have saved it for a night my palate was a little cleaner, but here goes. [A] Caramel. Chocolate. Toffee. Fig. Raisin. Dark fruit. Ripe. Almost wine ish. Grape or cranberry juice quality. English barleywine-esque. No hops really present, though a nice nose. Likeable in my book. [A] Shotgun blast and huge huge chunky bubbly brown head. Caramel brown to light. Active. Will not even allow a pour. Don’t think this is 07. Dark ruddy brown liquid. [F] Initially dark fruit. Caramel and a very large chocolate note. Mostly fruity. Nice intricacy and balance. Licorice. Maltiness. [P] Very watery. No hops. Flat mouth. With more dark fruit and chocolate. Reminiscent of certain barleywines and foreign stouts. Not especially a bad thing for this ale. But it doesn’t help. [O] I somewhat liked this after some IPA. Lord only knows if its 07. Not sure if I would buy a 6er either way. One was more than enough. Avery is one of my favorite brewers, and this receives a fair score, but I cannot totally agree with it tonight.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly hazy brown with minimal head that dissipated fairly fast. Aroma is black liquorice toffee and cinnamon dark fruits. Taste follows the aroma with a slight molasses note. Very smooth but a bit of booze coming thru.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Hazy mahogany pour with pretty big tan foamy head almost pillow like. Aroma of toffee and caramel with a sugary scent to it. Flavor of some plum and mostly caramel. Had some nutty character as well. Sweet finish good beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery on the 2015 launch day, wearing my ugliest sweater... Deep dark brown with a thin lacing head, aromas of toffee and apple (not quite toffee-apple though!). Dry-sweet and lightly toasty. Demerara and hints of umami and cola.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Notes from Churchkey Avery Cellar event. 2014 draft and 2004 bottle. Dark amber with small white head. Caramel malt, sweet candy, bread, hint of cocoa. 10 years on is much more subdued and mild, with the taste too mellowed for me. Prefer the new, and quite like it at that.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Absolutely beautiful color. Thin foam layer which leaves small islands of foam after a short time. The aroma is incredibly delicate black currant, lots of other soft fruits and some smoke and a little mocha.
The taste is almost as heavy as the aroma might indicate, but it has a nice sweetness of berries, distinct mocha and slightly nutty flavor that together with smoked malt gives the unique fullness and very different composition than expected. Hard Roasted malt is the back of the taste spectrum. It has clearly port tones.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle from Lucky’s in Clintonville. Shocked I hadn’t rated this. Burnt brown orange pour. Aroma of muted sweet malt, grassy. Tastes are creamy sweet caramel malt, dark fruit, brown sugar - which is usually all bad news for me - but this is well balanced and not overly sweet. Cola vibe. Easy drinking and covers the alcohol well. Good brew.
