Dec 28, 2008 Looking at the cliffs on the bottle is kind of haunting seeing the skull...Large, creamy, tan head with a brown tinged black body. Great lacing and retention. Strong aroma for the abv with tons of mocha and Starbucks coffee. Milk chocolate, vanilla, and a touch of cinnamon too. Taste is sweet at first with lots of smooth roast. Long duration finishing with a bit of leather and bitterness. Really good, tasteful stuff for the ABV. A bit rough on the mouth and a touch over carbonated. Water like. Good beer overall, very solid small stout!

Dec 27, 2008 Bottle from Pizza Port. Black with a fizzy tan head. Roasty chocolate and citrus hops aroma and taste. Like the porter but bigger.

Dec 13, 2008 A very smooth and tasty stout. Very good balance and flavor. Mix of milk chocolate, coffee and malt. Pours pitch black with very little head.

Dec 8, 2008 Solid black pour with a light brown head. Strong roasted malt and coffee aromas. Flavors are also of roasted malt and other grain. A somewhat creamy mouthfeel, peaty, just a faint hint of dark chocolate. Finishes a with a very crips coffee bitterness. Lingers quite a while. Aftertaste makes you believe you literally drank a stiff black coffee. Becomes a bit overly bitter if it warms too much. A good version of the style and very sessionable, just dont let it sit too long.

Dec 4, 2008 Bottle. Heavy aromas of dark coffee, pumpernickel bread, toasted, and cereal for the malts, moderate resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast and tar in the background. Head is average size, frothy, light brown with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is black. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, and the long finish is moderately bitter. Palate is medium, creamy and has a soft carbonation. A pretty good Dry Stout with a bite to it

Nov 27, 2008 Decent stout, not overwhelming. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Nice aroma and flavor of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Very easy stout to drink. Solid. I got this is a stout sampler pack.

Nov 21, 2008 Flaske. Kæmpe skumhoved, der tog 5 minuter for at lægge sig. Rigtig solid lækker stout med en tand ristet smag, og en del humle. Men fint afbalanceret. God øl.

Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Roasty, coffee-e, some fruitiness in it somewhere. Interesting flavors in there, kinda yummy, but not as intense as just about every other Avery.
