drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Oct 26, 2008 A season Avery made it to Columbia. How about that. Roasty. Bit of caramel and hops.Pours real nice with lots of head and body. The colder it gets outside, the better this will be. jrmac (210), USA Oct 26, 2008 A pretty good lower ABV stout. Pour is black with a nose of coffee, chocolate, and malt. Flavor is similar. Would buy again in a pinch. TearsforBeers (171), Ohio, USA Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Apr 28, 2009Pours almost black, sizable head for a stout. Malty, chocolaty, bitter, slightly coffee flavors. Good, not amazing.
Re-rate: my old rating was from my earlier, overly charitable days, this beer is pretty good, but not great. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 18, 2008 (Bottle). Roasty aroma, touch of fruit. Black body, large creamy light brown head. Delicious flavor, malty and roastedness, some chocolate. Pleasing bitter finish. Excellent. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours black, tan thick head.
Aroma, malty, chocolat, lightly hoppy.
Taste, chocolat malts, floral notes, light coffee after taste, some nice sublet hop bitterness.
Dry finish, a little too watery. mattwix (6), Arizona, USA does not count Oct 7, 2008 Pretty dang good stout. Very basic by stout standards. Smooth. Slightly bitter aftertaste. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 5, 2008 2008 Bottle - Pours almost black with a brown head....aroma is burnt grain, molassas, flavour is pretty expected, astringent biterness, coffee/chocolate nuance...a good dry stout, not my favorite style brew, but pretty good... JCastner (102), New York, USA Sep 27, 2008 Pours black with a slight tan head. Aroma is of roasted coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sticky mouth-feel. Taste is of roasted malt (coffee and chocolate) and some slight bitterness with a dry finish. Simple, straightforward example of a dry stout.
