| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Poured a nice dark color. Really smoked, chocolate, toffee flavors throughout. Large, with a dry end, but some bitter flavor. I think I’d make this without so much bitterness. But, still I picked it up in a mixed six pack, which makes it a good value. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind a spotty lacing and tan ring. Aroma of dark roasted malt, some coffee character and a touch of dark chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of smoked dark malt, a touch of coffee, dark chocolate and some flowery hops. Finish is slightly dry, a little on the mild bitter side with a light coffee and dark roasted malt aftertaste. A good, smooth dry stout overall. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Bottle. Opaque brown/black color with a respectable tan head. Some minimal lacing. Rich aroma of coffee and chocolate. Roasted malt too. Flavor starts with roasted, not overly burnt, malt, some coffee, and perhaps hints of chocolate. It’s bitter. More than roasted malt bitter. Must be up there in IBUs. The finish really is bitter. Smooth, dry and bitterrrrrr. Exceptionally good ale. blipp (1638), Newark, New Jersey, USA
