This one took a long time to pour. The aroma is roast malt and chocolate. The flavor is more roast malt with light chocolate notes and high bitterness for a stout. It’s full bodied and seems very carbonated for a thick stout. The finish is dry and bitter. GonZoBeeR (2160), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

Aroma is sweet and roasty, lots of espresso notes, nuts, chocolate...nougat, caramel...it’s a candy bar, nearly, more I sniff it...toffee! Me like!
Taste: just right. Full bodied, big on board the palate, bittersweet, tart yet again chocolatey, very cocoa-licious! Hmmm, mmm!
Quite satisfying, full flavored, with huge hops, tempered by roasty chocolate malts...mmm, mmm...I quite like it.

The tan head is great with nice lacing and staying power. Smell reminds me of roasted coffee and chocolate and beckons to a camp fire. The flavor is one to knock you over...very tasty and full...chocolate....Mmmmm...this is a bold and thick beer...Very tastey. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma is strong, roasty chocolateness that smells great. Like a Guinness on steroids. Smooth, rich, creamy, full bodied taste that’s still very drinkable. Bitter chocolate. Roasted malts. This is very good. Another good beer from Avery and one of the best I’ve had in the style.
