Commercial Description:
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren't afraid to use plenty of rich roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you've been looking for in a beer.

Poured a dark black/oil color with tan head good lacing. Aroma was of coffee and licorice. Flavor was wasn’t as good as it smelled same as aroma but a little watered down bitter finish to it. " Not bad but still avery for the most part has been a let down.

Rated 7/12/07. Dark black pour with mahogany edges. Ample tan head that leaves behind impressive lacing. Aroma is primarily roasted barley, with chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is a coffee base, with lots of roasted barley, some bitter chocolate, and a nice hoppy kick. Smooth up front with a bitter finish. After just having downed a Fullers London Porter, this beer has alot to live up to, and it does a pretty good job. As stouts go, this is one of the better offerings I have tried to date. Solid and well balanced, this is an easy drinking stout that tastes great and goes down easy. Another great beer from Avery!

Good lasting brown head with a good hold on the sides of the glass. Dark brown beer. Nice roasted aroma with a hint of coffee. Nice drinking stout. Roasted bitterness, coffee beans, malt and a dusty finish.

12 oz bottle, as dark as night, coffee flavor and chocolate at the start. Finishes dry with bitterness. Not my favorite stout but pretty good overall.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. This stout poured a deep black color with a huge, rocky tan head that lasted, leaving behind some faint lace. The aroma consisted of a big, roasty chocolate malt note, followed by a bit of coffee. The flavor was made up of dry, roasted malts, with some light coffee and chocolate notes. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied leaving with a dry, slightly bitter finish. Well done. A good sessionable stout.

Pretty tasty for a stout. I dont have all that much interest in stouts but i have to say this one stood out for me. Deep hoppy, coffee taste. More coffee flavor then chocolate. Not bad....i would like a little bit more bite though

Huge coffee and nutty aromas hit me right off the bat. Same thing, taste-wise, but with more chocolate. Haven’t explored the "dry stout" style too much, but I like this one. Goes down easily, and with a 5.1% ABV, it’s quite easy to make this one a session beer.
