Theis (3617), Denmark Jun 2, 2006 In the glass right now, from bottle.
Lovely black, brown head.
Smell: Coffee. Taste: strong hop, licorids, malts, a little coffee. Long bitter hoppy finish. More hoppy than expected, but not too much. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA May 30, 2006 12 oz bottle. Opaque brown color with a light brown head that laced the glass. Smells of cola, light flowery hops, and a touch of anise and chocolate. Dry ans slightly roasty with a light sprucy hop flavor. Decent stout. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden May 28, 2006 Pours black with a thick sparkling creamy tan head. Roasted, malty, somewhat hoppy nose. Malty, slight burnt flavour with some acidity and hoppiness. Finish is rather bitter. schwaiger (90), Laramie, Wyoming, USA May 24, 2006 12 oz bottle poured an opaque black with an average sized light brown head. Nice lacing. The first aroma to come to me was heavy ashtray - not an altogether pleasing smell which may have posioned the rest of the beer for me. Notes of dark roast coffee, sweet chocolate, soy sauce, straw, and some charred something or other. Moderately bitter and salty with some chocolate and metal flavors. Soft carbonation, medium body, medium chalky finish. I was really expecting better from this one. Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden May 23, 2006 Bottle 190506.
Dark red colour, with a white foam. Aroma of cofee and dark chocolate. Medium body, medium long finish.
ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark May 17, 2006 Black with a medium lasting off-white head. Malt rich toasted aroma with some wood and smoke. Flavour is initially a battle between hops and roast barley sourness, with some great coffee notes and wood to follow. Good mouthfeel and long lasting aftertaste. Nice to see an American microbrew where "big" isn’t just in the alcohol percentage :) oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA May 12, 2006 Dark brown body with a small tan head. Aromas of chocolate/coffee/smoke. Flavor is a little bitter with the taste of chocolate and roasted malts. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark May 9, 2006 Bottle. Almost black in colour with a medium brownish head. It’s kind of a mild stout. Slightly bitter. Hints of butter and chocolate. A bit too thin, but ok.
