JensenTaster (1585), Denmark Jan 26, 2006 (on bottle) Seriously dark brown, with a white trim, beige head. Rather fresh nose, hard malts and a zing of elderberries. Mouth and taste is d..r..y.., not much else really. Not chocoltadry, not cofeedry, but 280 degrees, violently hard roasted malt-dry. Tubbfan (144), Joliet, Illinois, USA Jan 25, 2006 I’m not thrilled about this stout. I looks maaavelous! Beyond that, it’s wanting. The aroma doesn’t do anything for me really, although there are hints of bitter, roasted malt. The flavor has some roasted, bitter malt too. Definite roasted malt flavor, but not as much as you’d expect. There are some hops in the aftertaste, but not the "mountain of hops" as advertised. The body is not that full either. Granted, its not an imperial stout, but this is more like a porter. I’ve had a lot of stouts that are better than this. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 17, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Almost opaque blackness with a tint of red. Creamy, beige head. Burned aroma. Rather light-bodied with very burned, malty notes. Bitter finish from the malts. 160106 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA Jan 14, 2006 this was a fine black colored stout. Very well blended and smooth. I like my stouts to have balls but when they dont i like them to taste like this. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Dec 30, 2005 Rich, thick, biscuity malt sweetness with plenty of chocolate and roasted malt, coffee-like character and strong orange-citrus hops in the aroma. Opaque black body is topped by a large, brown, fine-bubbled head that recedes very slowly to a lasting cover with plenty of lacing. Flavour is pretty extreme as promised but still manages to be very drinkable. There’s lots of orange and resiny hop flavour that cuts through the initial sweetness. Dark malt bitterness comes through in the finish and lingers on the palate. Medium-full body with lively effervescence that engages the tongue and cheeks. Excellent! Tulip glass. Just below cellar temperature. Bottle (trade, Mar-05). Thanks, DocLock! thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 26, 2005 This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and black in color. Its aroma contained notes of malty roasted malts dark malt . Its mouth feel is initially tingly smooth thick with a lingering tingly palate and a good stout coffee aftertaste. Its flavor contained mild coffee dark malts notes. Somewhat unidimensional but good. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Dec 19, 2005 Bottled: Deep burgundy coloured. Dense huge brown head. Lasting. Chocolate, roast, sweetness and caramel in the nose. Some vague smoke present (no I didn’t have a cigarette while drinking this). Dry mouthfeel. Flaovur of chocolate, roast, coffee and light hops. Is well roasted and bitter in the end. Has a medium body with a little watery edge. Quite good and easy to drink. Suiiy was nice enough to send this as an extra in our raspberry Icebock trade. Thanks, Mike. pjk33 (384), Sligo - Curllsville Heights, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 19, 2005 Bottle. Huge bubbly tan head that stays forever. Had to repour 3 more times after original to get into the pint glass. Nose is burnt coffee. Taste is nice with lots of bitterness from not only the malt but also some nice hoppy finish. Good stuff. Lots of carbonation, which is strange in a way. A lot like some of my home brewed stouts. This is a pretty solid brew.
