anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Dec 18, 2005 Very dark in colour with a tan head. Roasted aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee. Dry roasted malty flavor with hints of coffee. Has a dry and a little hoppy aftertaste. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Dec 16, 2005 Updated: Jan 21, 2008Re-rated on 1/21/2008. Ruby/black with a medium tan head. Coffee, pine, and citrus in the aroma. Medium body and carbonation, some astringency, nicely dry. Bitterness comes on quickly, leaving little time to appreciate the treacle sweetness that lurks behind it. Long, mildly bitter finish. An easy drinking dry stout. Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Dec 12, 2005 Pours very dark. Has bitter tones to it with a hint of coffee and chocolate. A little too thin to linger long, it does not have much of an aftertaste. Mildly disappointing for a stout. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Dec 11, 2005 Large light brown head. Very dense and creamy. Settles very nicely. Bitter roasted aroma with some juniper and coffee. Color is essentially black. Dry, sharply bitter up front. Loads of roasted oats in the middle, carbon, dark chocolate, coffee. Finish is a little chalky with a lingering dry bitterness. This is certainly dry. Thin mouthfeel and a decent stout but not worth a lot of effort. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark Dec 9, 2005 Bottled. Black appearance. Dark brown head. Quite roasted coffee notes are present in the flavour. However most unfortunate the beer is too thin to keep my concentration focused on it. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 29, 2005 Black beer with a big light brown head. Roasted malty aroma, coffee bitterness and a faint chocolate sweetness. Roasted malty flavor with a burnt coffee bitterness. Finish has a nice balanced hoppy bitterness. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Nov 26, 2005 A good stout, but this style leaves much to be desired. Has a roasty and coffee like flavor, but normal stouts are also pretty light tasting to me now. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 23, 2005 Pours a very dark brown body with a tan, merangue-like head. The nose is full of black coffee. At first, the flavor is cool, black coffee with a slight burnt taste ending with a citrus/grapefruit hop kick. Not at all the finish I would expect from a "dry stout" but very kind nonetheless.
